Jordan Water Efficiency and Conservation Activity (WEC)
The Jordan Water Efficiency and Conservation Activity (WEC) funded by USAID/Jordan and implemented by Tetra Tech ARD (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest for qualified candidates to fill various positions. The purpose of the WEC Activity is to increase water use efficiency and conservation in Jordan by applying commercial incentives to the agriculture, industrial, and the municipal sectors and strengthening the Government of Jordan (GOJ) governance over irrigated agriculture.

Partnerships Specialist – Municipal sector
The Partnerships Specialist – Municipal sector will work with the suppliers of water conservation technologies to facilitate the creation of effective commercial partnerships leading to increased demand and supply of water efficiency and conservation technologies and practices at municipal level. Under the supervision of the Strategic Partnerships Lead, the focus of this role is to support the efforts to establish interest and increase dissemination of water conservation practices at municipal level. Specifically, the Partnerships Specialist – Municipal will:
- Identify and assess potential partnerships to build effective commercial relationships to increase the supply of Water Saving Technologies ( WSTs ) to Jordan’s Municipal sectors.
- Work with suppliers of water saving technologies and related service providers to create ongoing mutually beneficial commercial partnerships.
- Identify and work with other relevant actors in the supply chain whose inclusion will support enhanced delivery of WST solutions. This may include providers of financial services and any other relevant service which facilitates an increased supply of these technologies and practices.
- Promote commercial models that demonstrate the financial benefits to municipal sectors for adopting specific water conservation technologies. Support the suppliers to use this information to build demand for their products.
- Engage with and support the suppliers of water saving technologies to adopt a more customer focused approach to build commercial relationships with their client base.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical and relationship building skills, including ability to work in partnership with private sector service providers and government institutions as appropriate.
- Ability to negotiate, advise and resolve issues that are highly complex and sensitive in nature.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people and organizations on all levels relevant to the water sector.
- Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, well-organized manner in both English and Arabic
- Ability to travel within Jordan as needed.
- Team player and able to work independently.
Minimum qualification requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, water management or relevant technical area.
- At least three years of experience working with the private sector to develop public-private partnerships, leverage resources, and promote private-sector driven growth. Without a Bachelor’s Degree, 8 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Experience providing advisory, mentoring, and capacity building services to commercial sector to promote the adoption of water saving technologies.
- Familiarity with water issues at municipal level in Jordan
