Job Title: Mental Health Nurse FSR # 376
Location: Azraq Camp
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting psychiatrist orders
- Works closely with psychiatrists to determine medications needed as part of MHPSS service-delivery.
- Liaises with Psychiatry Consultant to ensure medications procured are in line with therapeutic standards and drug controls.
- Completed the good issue orders (GIO) and submits them to the warehouse
- Monitors client consumption and ensures heavily utilized medication is kept in stock with adequate supply.
- Takes precautions to avoid stock shortages by anticipating the demand of medications, based on medications usage in clinics.
- Submits and follows-up on medications procurement requisition forms (PR) according to clinic need and client’s consumption.
- Conducts quality checks when receiving medications from vendors and regular quality checks on medications and adherence to medication storage requirements.
- Ensure the safe storage of medications in Azraq, and advise mental health nurses and pharmacists to adhere to compliance standards.
- Complies with International Medical Corps drug laws, international guidelines regarding use of psychotropic, and national drug enforcement laws.
- Complies with the drug enforcement administration and the food and drug administration by monitoring mental health clinics.
- Maintain current registration.
- Ensure to remain up to date with existing, new and anticipating legislation, advising management on needed actions to ensure compliance.
- Protect patients and technicians by adhering to medications protocols.
- Ensure access to medications is restricted to only authorized persons within mental health clinics.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Follow up with the pharmacist for distributing medications for patients according to psychiatrist prescriptions and follows up to record the consumptions for each clinic.
- Follow up with admin, epilepsy, and mental retardation cases, to ensure they take their medication as recommended by the psychiatrist, and maintain good mental health state.
- Contributes to team effort by completing additional tasks as requested.
- Organize the development of biopsychosocial initial care plan with focus on any immediate safety concerns.
- Monitor on-going care plan development
- Establish short-term and long-term goals in case planning
- Ensure that all care plan activities have time lines and support services.
- Serve as a client advocate.
- Enhance a collaborative relationship to maximize the client’s and family’s ability to make informed decisions.
- Conduct review for appropriate utilization of services from admission through discharge/termination.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team, and actively participate in case conferences
- Evaluate client satisfaction and quality of care provided.
- Ensure involvement of local authorities, community leaders, and community groups in creating community network which increase access to better health and social services for vulnerable population of Jordan.
- Contribute to the case management file, including assessments, treatment plan and quality assurance measures (HoNOS) and client functioning scale.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management staff as required; contribute to donor reports and internal IMC reports as required
- In coordination with the pharmacist, remove outdated and damaged medications from the pharmacy inventory.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
– Bachelor degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health/Nursing
– Minimum one-year Experience with excellent knowledge and skills in mental health.
