A Senior Creative Fragrance Manager and a key member of our winning Fragrance Development team for the Middle East & North Africa region, and based in our Regional Creative Centre in Dubai – Could this be your future position?

Givaudan's fragrance teams are present in every region of the world. Years of experience have resulted in an innate knowledge of consumer preferences depending on the segment and geographical location. Our fragrance teams work together to create the success that Givaudan thrives on and brings together various skill sets – Sales, Creation and Evaluation, Consumer & Market Insights, Marketing, Pricing, Compounding, Application, Library, Customer Relations, Operations/Production, QC, etc. We have a selection of key competencies present in each region.

Our Fragrance Evaluator’s are olfactive development specialists whose primary goal is to guide perfumers in the fragrance development process. To do so, Evaluator’s have a strategic view and analyse current olfactive trends, forecast future trends, and assesses consumer preferences.

Due to increasing business activity and to further build upon our continued success in the region, we are recruiting for a ‘Senior Creative Fragrance Manager (CFM) – Personal Care Category’ to be based regional Creative Centre in Dubai. As a key member of our Regional Personal Care Evaluation team, you will lead a team of experienced Evaluator’s to help Givaudan continue to position unique and winning fragrance solutions to our customers in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. The role reports to the Personal Care Category Director for MENA.

You will focus on the personal care category comprising segments like hair care, skin care, personal wash, etc. You will lead the Personal Care Evaluation team to develop, create, and validate fragrances with a clear understanding of the customer needs, preferences, and requirements, and drive business value and timely completion of projects. You will guide the fragrance development process alongside Account Managers, Perfumers, Marketing, Consumer & Market Insights, and Laboratory experts.

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for –

People Management:

  • Lead a team of Evaluators and manage the performance and development of the team.
  • Build an inclusive and creative environment in which all the team members are motivated and can contribute to the best of their ability.
  • Foster a culture of empowerment, sharing, and accountability.
  • Train and mentor team members as necessary.

Fragrance Development:

  • Develop the olfactory strategy for customers, markets, and categories and accordingly guide the Perfumery teams.
  • Manage and execute multiple complex briefs from customers and develop or select fragrances according to the given brief guidelines.
  • Liaise with other regional creative centres in the region, as necessary, to complete project assignments.
  • Define fragrances to be tested and coordinate with Consumer and Market Insights (CMI) team.
  • Translate CMI results into olfactory guidelines for Perfumers.
  • Contribute to the olfactory analysis of new products to identify interesting notes for creative development.
  • Develop new fragrances with Perfumers on a proactive basis.
  • Work with the labs to test product stability.
  • Keep abreast of Givaudan and industry best practices and identify improvement opportunities for implementation.

Positioning and Marketing:

  • Anticipate market tastes and work closely with marketing colleagues to proactively work on fragrance concepts.
  • Write olfactory summaries of a region/market and customers for knowledge-building and sharing.
  • Conduct customer presentations/interactions.
  • Write fragrance descriptions linked to marketing trends.

Project Management:

  • Efficiently manage the project pipeline of customer briefs and other internal or proactive initiatives.
  • Ensure efficient execution of projects with a focus on improving the win rate, customer intimacy, and speed of response.

Build and maintain relationships with customers:

  • Contribute to winning briefs by selecting suitable fragrances to meet customer needs.
  • Actively participate in meeting customers and the preparation for customer visits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with selected customers together with the Sales/Key Accounts team.
  • Proactively provide the Sales/Key Accounts team with inputs for their account development plans.

Your professional profile includes:

  • A bachelor's or university degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Deep knowledge and passion for the world of fragrances
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Fragrance Development/Evaluation for the Personal Care segment and a strong track record of having developed winning fragrances for key international or regional customers.
  • Current or prior experience in the Middle East or Africa region will be advantageous.
  • 3+ years of proven people management experience in leading a winning team of experienced Evaluator's.
  • A team player and comfortable with cultural diversity.
  • Excellent presentation and project management skills.
