ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP Global Office in Seoul is located at the Seoul National University campus in Gwanak-gu, Seoul and its primary objective is partnership with the Republic of Korea’s Government and private sector including resource mobilization, advocacy and support of WFP field operations.

JOB PURPOSE

WFP Global Office in Seoul is looking for the Social Media Coordinator who can strongly advocate the work of WFP and raise WFP’s profile in ROK by optimizing social network systems with relevant and impactful content creation that will resonate with the Korean public. The consultant is reporting to the SEO’s Head of Public Relations and working in close coordination with the HQ CAM.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Coordinate and deliver social media plans for target audiences to strengthen WFP brand, curating compelling digital content and products that can be utilized across a range of platforms such as social media, website, and print media. Monitor digital conversations, especially those over social media, and provide timely, relevant updates.
  • Identify opportunities to engage with new influencers and build/strengthen the relationships with celebrities, social media groups, creative agencies, etc.
  • Engages in dialogue with supporters and the online community to market and connect WFP social media to key influencers, including on other websites and online platforms to multiply messages to wider audiences.
  • Ensure that relevant information is collected, and maintained in appropriate files and databases, by self or others, so that accurate records are available for others to access.
  • Liaise and interact with WFP staff and external counterparts to support aligned activities and a coherent approach to communications within WFP.
  • Create engaging, platform-specific, high-impact social media content for WFP Seoul office's official Instagram, YouTube, Blog, etc. and manage these social media channels effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members on content ideas with the aim of creating dynamic, impactful and differentiated content,
  • Analyze and define key donors/ advocate/ amplifier audiences in ROK and refine messages to different target audiences
  • Monitor WFP Seoul office’s social media channels and flag/escalate reputational risk topics/activities.
  • Perform regular analytics assessment of campaign and marketing performance.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Advanced university degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, literature or other relevant field, or first university degree with additional years of related work experience.

Experience

Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience in social media platform management, digital marketing and content creation.

Knowledge & Skills

Good understanding of social media KPIs and digital marketing performance analysis.

Facilitates open verbal or written communication with influencers as required (i.e. through preparation of tailored written or visual materials presentations, and official documentation) to convey tailored messages. Engages in mutually informative discussion with media and influencers.

Uses sound theoretical knowledge of communications concepts to generate or facilitate the generation of effective communication materials across social media. Applies this to define work plans aligned to identified areas of WFP’s communications strategy.

Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and video editors preferred.

Languages

Fluency (level C) in English language and in Korean (the duty station’s language)
