Médecins Sans Frontières runs the Reconstructive Surgery Hospital (RSH) in Amman as part of the regional Reconstructive Surgery Program (RSP), which started in 2006. The RSP has as its goal giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic and maxilo-facial) to war wounded people and providing comprehensive health care (including rehabilitation and mental health support). MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.

Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery Hospital in Amman is recruiting a Network Physiotherapist in Yemen to ensure the follow up care of RSH patients based in Yemen.

THE JOB

  • Following individual treatment programs for the patient in Yemen.
  • Networking and Mapping of physiotherapy activity venters (PAC) in Yemen
  • Coordinate with Physiotherapy activity venters in Yemen for patient referrals.
  • Networking and Mapping of Physiotherapy activities/Venters in referrals countries
  • Support MSF projects in Yemen, mainly in building physiotherapy capacity, and training MSF staff, other actors and MoH.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Locate, coordinate and communicate with the Physiotherapy activity venters in Yemen and evaluate their capacities, strengthen the collaboration and define the referral possibilities lines for the patients with the coordination and support of network physiotherapy supervisor and the support of Yemen medical liaison officer.
  • Refer the patients to the Physiotherapy activity venters while they are in Yemen in between their treatment stages at the RSH.
  • Provide on-hand support for the Physio Aden team in the management of RSH patients or MSF Aden patients upon request from the team.
  • Provide a physio follow-up to the patients all along their treatment pathway, from the identification to the final discharge.
  • Provide technical support for the Physiotherapy activity venters in Yemen (when needed and regarding the referred cases).
  • Collect the feedback about the physio patient’s status and share it with the validation committee, medical liaison Officer and physio.
  • Utilizes pre-existing tools, protocols and processes that will be used to assess the RSP patients remotely after their return to Yemen in between treatment stages.
  • In collaboration with the network physiotherapy supervisor, suggest any ameliorations or pertinent changes to the above-mentioned tools, protocols and processes

PROFILE

  • Essential, Physiotherapist’s official degree/diploma.
  • Essential: 4 years’ experience
  • Essential: at least 2 years of orthopedic experience.
  • Essential: Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Essential: Computer literacy (word, excel, internet)
  • Highly Desirable: Experience in MSF or other INGOs in Yemen or experience in Hospital settings
  • Applicants must be Yemeni and have the rights to work in Yemen.

WORK LOCATION: Based in Aden, with the flexibility to travel all over Yemen (40%).

CONTRACT: One year (3 months probation period).
