NAME ICT Business Analyst (BA)

Purpose

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Business Analyst 1 is responsible for understanding and capturing business needs, translating them into quantifiable requirements and functional specifications and ensuring they are addressed by ICT services and solutions. S/he is also responsible for anticipating and understanding changes and the impact they will have on the organization.

Accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Works with the business stakeholders to understand and document business requirements by holding brainstorming sessions, interviews and workshops, and through other requirement-gathering techniques as appropriate to ensure full Business and ICT understanding.
  • Documents "as-is" business processes to gain a good understanding of the business landscape and proposes "to-be" processes based on business requirements, business constraints and information technology (IT) architecture.
  • Performs solution acceptance through functional testing (test-case documentation, test-case execution and bug tracking).
  • Supports project handover to business and ICT operations.
  • Translates the requirements into detailed specifications in the form of user stories and acceptance criteria, as well as analyses, re-uses or updates data concepts.
  • Creates and manages traceability matrixes that allow all requirements to be traced from business demand through to testing, defect management and delivery.
  • Perform gap analysis between out of the box capabilities of standard tool and business expectations.
  • Adhere to ICRC Business Analysis strategy, practice, methodology and templates and actively contributes to the continuous improvement process.
  • Facilitate business acceptance and solution validation through UAT with the Business teams.

General duties

  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct.
  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times.
  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times.
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers.
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC.
  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary

Requirements

  • University degree in computer sciences, information technology, economics or equivalent along with a minimum of 2 years experience in Business Analysis role (or similar) on IT projects, including experience in business process modeling and/or test management
  • Typically, 3-5 years' professional experience.
  • Good general knowledge of the IT world and technologies.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; thorough and precise.
  • Capacity to quickly understand multiple new concepts in parallel and identify impacts on the existing Information System.
  • Proactive and results-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Proven capacity to work in an international environment (English speaking teams) and multi-location teams.
  • Very good communication and listening skills in order to capture the information required – adept at collecting, synthesizing, interpreting, and summarizing data.
  • Ability to translate complex questions into practical strategies and to present information in a clear and concise manner along with excellent presentation skills.
  • Sense of initiative and ability to critically examine issues and find constructive solutions and drive change forward.
  • Ability to facilitate interviews and workshop with different profiles of stakeholders spread on different locations.

Assets

  • Understanding of BPMN (Business Process Modelling Notation)
  • Experience in any Enterprise Architecture tool or Business process management modelling tool (Including MS Visio)
  • Certification or training in Business analysis (e.g. IIBA, IREB, PMI), or in agile product ownership (e.g. Scrum), or in test management (e.g. ISTQB), or in any other IT project management topic related to analyzing, modelling or testing
  • Business analysis certification (e.g. CCBA, CBAP) or similar desirable.

Microsoft TFS or AzureDevops experience an asset.
