Assistant Executive Housekeeper

Duties And Responsibilities
FINANCIAL RETURNS:

  • Assist in the monitoring and control of departmental cost
  • Assist in the preparation of the departmental budget.
  • Supervises outside contracts to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels managing cost per room for supplies and labor

PEOPLE:

  • Directs the work assignments of supervisory and non-supervisory personnel.
  • Establish and maintains effective employee relations.
  • Assist the Executive Housekeeper in personnel matters such as interviewing, evaluating and counseling.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and developing and implementing training sessions.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
  • Educate and train all team members in compliance with federal, state and local laws and safety regulations. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties
  • Interacts with guest as well as individuals outside the hotel, such as suppliers, contractors, labor relation representative and competitors.

Works With Other Department Heads As Required.
GUEST EXPERIENCE:

  • Works closely with the Laundry Department and Engineering Department and Front Office Department and maintain open channels of communication.
  • Monitors Housekeeping personnel to ensure that all rooms – especially those Priority Club Members, known repeat guest and other VIP’s – receive proper attention.
  • Inspects guest and public areas on a regular basis to ensure that all furnishings, facilities and equipment are clean and in good repair.
  • Helps monitor and control Housekeeping task – such as lost and found, key control and security emergency and environmental procedures – that help maintain health and security of personnel and guest.
  • Maintains appropriate standard for dress, hygiene, uniforms, appearance, posture and conduct of Housekeeping personnel.
  • Respond to guest complains and Ensure corrective actions are taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction.

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS

  • Demonstrate understanding and awareness of all policies and procedures relating to Health, Hygiene and Fire Life Safety
  • Familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
  • Ensure all security incidents, accidents and near misses are recorded in a timely manner and brought to the attention of the Line Manager
  • Maintain “Green” initiatives (example: recycling, garbage segregation, power & water saving etc)
  • Co-ordinate special projects (i.e. site rooms, vermin control, window and carpet cleaning, room inventories)
  • Must have a complete knowledge of room types, layouts and facilities
  • Schedules routine inspection with supervisors of all Housekeeping Areas.
  • Is prepared to implement assigned task during emergencies such as fires, power failures and bomb threats.

ACCOUNTABILITY
This is a top housekeeping job in a full-service hotel which may include multiple sites and outlets with high volume catering and convention facilities. Typically manages a large number of staff.
Qualifications And Requirements
High School Diploma / secondary education / equivalent plus four years of housekeeping/laundry experience preferably in a hotel of similar size, including supervisory experience. Some college preferred. must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred.
This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing and or pulling approximately 200 pounds
  • Frequently standing up and moving about the facility
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility
  • Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling
