DURATION OF CONTRACT: 1 year, renewable

Note: Egyptian nationals only are eligible to apply. This vacancy will also be used to build a roster for similar positions in WFP Egypt.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP Technology Division (TEC, formerly known as the IT Division) is the digital business engine of the World Food Programme, providing the business with multi-pronged and resilient technical capabilities able to respond with the agility required in humanitarian operations. Technology and connectivity are rapidly reaching some of the most vulnerable people and places affected by crisis, but they are also increasingly expanding to the services responding to those same crises. As one of the main humanitarian actors, WFP has the opportunity and the obligation to leverage data and technology to better know and serve those in need by digitally transforming the way it works.

As one of the main humanitarian actors, the World Food Programme (WFP) has the opportunity and the obligation to leverage data and technology to better know and serve those in need by digitally transforming the way it works. Such ambition led to a plan aimed at establishing, integrating, and mainstreaming the core elements of an end-to-end digital business process.

JOB PURPOSE

Partner with the business to understand their needs and operating environment in order to transform business requirements into solutions exploiting IT capabilities and focusing on business satisfaction. The position calls for an experienced mixed-profile professional that holds hands-on technical expertise in data collections, analysis, integration and visualization, as well as proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Capture, analyze and document (i.e., through diagrams, flowcharts, data models, user experience designs, storyboards) business requirements for IT solutions and services WFP policies, standards and strategies.
  2. Communicate business requirements to business counterparts, for a shared understanding of the requirements and effective implementation of strategies/plans.
  3. Baseline and track business requirements through to implementation ensuring efficient management of change.
  4. Test and analyze IT solutions and document the match against business requirements for quality and accuracy.
  5. Establish and maintain close partnerships with business counterparts to effectively meet their needs.
  6. Manage the service catalog of IT solutions offered to the business, including current, retired and those in the pipeline to ensure effective knowledge management.
  7. Manage alignment of IT service levels with SLAs for solutions or services focused on the business needs. Conduct survey on business satisfaction with IT solutions and services.
  8. Manage estimates, business cases, planning, risk identification, problem and issue management to ensure the effective delivery of IT solutions.
  9. Adhere to processes, procedures and templates for the Business Relationship Management, Business Analysis and IT Project Management functions to ensure compliance and consistency.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

In close collaboration with the entire Technology team in RBC country offices and HQ Data Team. Specifically, the incumbent will:

  • Work closely with data owners, and stakeholder to identify data pain points and data visualization needs for country operations in the region, by carrying out Data Mapping Missions.
  • Engage with the business units to understand strategic objectives, gather requirements, and analyze capabilities with the objective of shaping demand for technology products, offering opportunities to improve business processes and stakeholder alignment;
  • Coordinate the rollout and adoption of data related corporate products and services;
  • Organize and facilitate a regional data event that would promote global best practices, local digital solutions and use cases focused on data, and build capacity for the wider network of data fellows and champions in RBC;
  • Coordinate the work of the Regional Data Working Group;
  • Provide support to the Regional Senior Management team in participating in the Data Management Committee

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Advanced University Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Management, Statistics, Marketing, Communications, Information Management other relevant discipline or First University degree with additional of at least 2 years of related work experience.

Experience:

3 years or more of relevant progressive work experience in information management, information systems, web management, data management, GIS mapping, data visualization or project management. Out of this, at least 2 years of progressive working experience as business partner in the international / multi-cultural work environment.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven experience working in a busy analytical environment and handling complex analysis.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive report writing skills. Experience working with teams and as Business Partner.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural and multi-ethic environments.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong data analysis skills.

Language:

Fluency (level C) in oral and written communication in both English and Arabic.

Business Analysis Has in-depth understanding of operational requirements, business issues and opportunities to conduct stakeholder and benefit analysis of options to identify effective and optimal automated/ non-automated solutions that meet business needs.
