The Program / Department / Team

MicroMentor is an initiative of Mercy Corps’ Innovations Team. MicroMentor connects
entrepreneurs and business mentors on an easy-to-use social platform that strives to overcome
geographical limitations and deliver business resources at scale to under-resourced communities
around the globe. We are the world's largest network of free business mentoring. Entrepreneurs
matched with a mentor have shown significant results in terms of improved job creation, business
survival, and revenue growth. Since inception, our community has grown to more than 170,000
entrepreneurs and 50,000 mentors across 180 countries. Our team is diverse, driven, hardworking
and highly committed to the mission of helping small businesses thrive through mentoring.
MicroMentor was launched in the MENA region in 2020, with a localized Arabic platform, and a
strong team based in Jordan to manage the initiative. MicroMentor in MENA is funded by Google,
Mastercard, and the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as well as USAID
Iqlaa ع. Since inception, we have reached a community of more than 20,000 entrepreneurs, and
7,000 mentors.

General Position Summary

The Project Assistant will be fully responsible for MicroMentor’s Users Support and Acquisition in the
MENA region. The assistant will provide MicroMentor’s users with excellent services, including
efficiently responding to their inquiries and messages, collecting feedback from the MicroMentor
community to improve the MENA platform. In addition to increase MicroMentor MENA’s user
engagement.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Translate any documents requested by MicroMentor Jordan team, MicroMentor HQ team,
partners, and donors.
• Translate English content on the website to Arabic using Content Management Systems
(CMS).
• Publish Arabic content on the website using Content Management System (CMS).
• Post new content including success stories on MicroMentor’s official website.
• Support in document filing using Mercy Corps filing structure.
• Fully responsible for MicroMentor MENA’s User Support and Acquisition.
• Respond to the MicroMentor community through emails and WhatsApp messages.
• Engage with the MicroMentor community by sending frequent emails announcing
campaigns and activities.
• Work closely with MicroMentor’s mentors, entrepreneurs, and partners to collect
feedback in order to improve user experience.
• Dedicate time to conduct quality checks on the platform to ensure conversations and
messages are of efficient quality.
• Conduct user testing for MicroMentor platform with potential users when needed.
• Propose new ideas to increase user engagement in the MENA region.
• Help in arranging interviews with mentors and entrepreneurs.
• Calculate monthly increase on the platform through reports.
• Represent the voices of mentors, entrepreneurs, and partners to provide input into the
MicroMentor MENA platform.
• Create a bank of images that can show the impact of the initiative.
• Support in any requested data collection.
• Support donor reporting with accurate data, lessons learned, recommendations, and
success stories.
• Support the team with daily tasks.

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to
our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards
guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging
communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

• MicroMentor Project Leader in MENA
Works Directly With:
MicroMentor Project Leader in MENA, Mentoring Community Engagement Manager, Senior
Marketing officer, Director of Programs and Innovation, Global program officer, Product Manager,
other MicroMentor Teams, MicroMentor end users, MicroMentor clients.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

● Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Computer Engineering, Data Collection, business
administration or Content Generation.
● 1-3 years of related work experience.
● Basic knowledge of entrepreneurship/small businesses development.
● Strong interest in the development sector, and in Mercy Corps mission and vision.
● Flexible and adaptable personality with strong willingness to learn.
● Ability to organize and work independently and within teams.
● English and Arabic fluency. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English
and Arabic.
● Good computer skills.
● Strong presentation skills.
● Detail-oriented and demonstrated ability to stay on task and meet deadlines

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
This position is based on Amman and it requires up to 25% travel to support the program, which may
include travel to insecure locations where freedom of movement is limited and areas where
amenities are limited. Housing for this role is in individual housing and staff will have access to good
medical services and the living situation is of a high standard.
Mercy Corps team members represent the agency both during and outside work hours when
deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Team members are expected to
conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC's policies,
procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
