Background

JOHUD is one of the oldest and widest NGOs in Jordan, with a unique national footprint and community links, stemming from more than 45 years of working from and with local communities, in cooperation with regional and international donors, governmental and private sector entities, and civil society organizations. However, it is our presence at the community level and the historic relationships that we have within these communities that define JOHUD as an organization.

Job Purpose:

As a part of JOHUD’s strategy within the protection and inclusion pillar provides the case management approach, including psychosocial support (PSS), counseling, and mental wellbeing. The Counselor will conduct the individual counseling sessions, group therapy sessions, PSS, and parenting support sessions, in addition to generally reports on cases progressions, and advise the protection team on certain PSS interventions as per the identified needs and beneficiaries' concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Offer specialized and direct therapeutic support and interventions Including group therapy and individual counseling in addition to developing a therapeutic plan for each beneficiary and following it up with the progression report sent to the senior protection staff and team leader.
  • Provide counseling with the aim to improve social and emotional functions, maximize overall community well-being, and encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences.
  • Examine issues including bullying, anger management, relationships, issues, self-image, and stress with individual sessions.
  • Refer Casas to the needed services to JOHUD’s programs, and follow the external referrals pathways when needed.
  • Provide specialized psychological services for higher-level care and other services as needed.
  • Contribute to the case management file, including assessments, counseling plans, and individual progress with the technical supervision team CP&GBV team leader.
  • Conduct support groups for beneficiaries with specific and common issues and protection concerns.
  • Train Child Protection Case Managers to run support groups, and run parenting support classes, and conduct training for the staff and volunteers related to PSS and psychological support.
  • Conduct field visits when needed.
  • Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), Child Safeguarding and protection standards and principles within JOHUD and amongst JOHUD beneficiaries.

Competencies, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, social science or related field is mandatory
  • At least 2 years in counseling.
  • Demonstrate a solid knowledge in child protection national SOPs.
  • Experience in working with children, women, elderly people, and people with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Language Requirement

  • Fluency in Arabic and English language.
