Within the framework of CSP 2, WFP is working to ensure that the most vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, can have access to the nutritious food they need to carry out a productive and healthy living. To this end, WFP in collaboration with the Government and the other agencies of the SNU has launched a reference survey, the CFSVA in order to better support policies and programs that effectively address needs assistance in WFP areas of intervention.
The objective is to strengthen the technical capacity of WFP and its partners in data analysis and interpretation as well as CFSVA reporting and reporting. This will ensure that the country office has a good capacity to implement a data analysis and processing system to strengthen decision-making for the implementation of CSP 2. It will thus have to ensure the statistical capacity of the office. countries, including the absence of the data analyst while also providing Information needed for rapid planning and response.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- A bachelor's degree (Bac + 4) in statistics, economics or similar is needed for the position.
- 1 to 6 years of professional experience in analysis statistics, in econometrics
- Good knowledge of statistical modelling
- Good quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Excellent analytical, communication and writing
- Attention to detail, efficient and able to meet deadlines
- Be able to work in a team, independently and under pressure on short notice
- Excellent computer skills, MS Office included word processing, Outlook, spreadsheets and other software packages. Excellent software proficiency statistics (SPSS, Stata and/orR) required.
- Knowledge of visualization software like Tableau and experience in mapping (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.) an asset.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
These jobs are found in Regional Bureaux (RBs), Country Offices (COs), Area/Field Offices (AOs/FOs). The job holders typically report to a Programme Policy Officer or the designate. At this level, job holders are responsible for the completion of a range of specialized and/or standardized processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines and practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff. They work under minimum supervision, perform basic analyses and compile reports to support information consistency and smooth implementation of programmes/projects.
JOB PURPOSE
In order to ensure the analysis of CFSVA Cameroon data, an analyst is required to will allow the unit to increase performance in relation to the number of reports to be produced that require extensive analysis and technical discussions (Statistics) with the government and other partners. S/He will also ensure the respect of the highest WFP standards for database management and collection, analysis and presentation of data and results on food security and nutrition.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
The CFSVA Data Analyst will be under the direct supervision of the VAM Officer and will have the following main responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of the analysis and processing of CFSVA to ensure timely WFP management has timely reports in time.
- Ensure the analysis of secondary data and markets but also ensure cross-analyses with household data to provide factors explanations of food and nutrition insecurity.
- Ensure gender and protection analysis and carry out cross-analysis and statistical testing to analyze gender determinants of safety household food.
- Participate in the technical coordination of CFSVA data analyses and then to the drafting of reports and ensure regular follow-up, through a system cross-referencing and factor analysis of food safety in relationship with explanatory factors.
- Participate in the drafting of the seven reports that will come from the CFSAV produce newsletters and periodic reports on analysis of vulnerability to food insecurity and trends in Trends over time by re-analyzing data from other surveys (CFSVA, 2012, 2017, ENSAN etc.) to guide the planning process and programming WFP food assistance interventions and its partners.
- Participate in technical workshops to validate data and analysis as well as translate graphs and figures into English for reports.
- Create and ensure the various databases from the CFSVA and prepare the household database to be used for the MVAM and ensure Syntax preparation and mVAM parsing table.
