The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill an intern position at the Staff Wellness Division (WEL), based in Rome (Italy).
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION:
The Staff Wellness Division aspires to promote and advocate in WFP the highest corporate occupational health standards by managing health risks, offering evidence-based, quality-controlled occupational health services, and nurturing trust in clients through professionalism with the highest regard for confidentiality and privacy. The Wellness Division has grown in scope and staffing over the last 5 years, and a key need is for its numerous ongoing activities globally, regionally, and locally to be coordinated and promoted in a cohesive manner. The division is working currently on different projects, among which the WFP Wellbeing app and the FLOCK groups, and support them will be one of the main scopes of the intern work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinating closely with WEL Communication Officer, the Staff Health Protection Advisor and the Chief of Staff Counselling.
- Develop an effective and functional communication strategy about the WFP Wellbeing app internally and externally to families, at regional and country based level.
- Work with Regional and country based Staff Counsellors, communication officers and HQ and local app focal points in designing and implementing appropriate communication plans and campaigns for socializing the app and other local WEL initiatives, including WSVs (Wellness Support Volunteers) and FLOCK activities.
- Provide and support app local teams with (and produce if necessary) audiovisual material relevant to improve the quality of the local pages of the app, in liaison with local, regional or HQ based Communication branches.
- Support the creation and uploading of content for the related online platforms if needed.
- Support in preparing presentations, decks, pitches, toolkits and process documents.
- Assist the Division in the curation and coordination of key events and communication opportunities.
- Build communication materials for events and help spread awareness through relevant channels.
- Participate in the design and socialization of the Forums in the Wellbeing app and other new features or initiatives.
- Provide with needed metrics to assess the impact of communication plans implemented.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university;
- University course attendance in the past 12 months.
- Experience in website management, content creation, social media and digital communications is preferred.
- Experience with web-based applications, basics of HTML, as well as video and photo editing and design software is preferred.
- Relevant experience in similar positions, public relations, communications or journalism would be an asset.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
- Knowledge of design programs/software required to create multimedia communications products.
WORKING LANGUAGES
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C).
Fluency in French and Spanish is desirable.

Under the direct supervision of WEL Communication Officer
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, WeLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:
- have a deep knowledge of the internal communication processes and procedures at WFP
- have delivered different multicultural communication plans related to promotion of Wellbeing app access and content
- have developed strong partnerships abilities to deal with other colleagues, offices and divisions

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
- WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
- WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
- Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
