ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), and report to a Communications Officer.
Job holders at this level demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide research and specialised communications services that support the creation of content and services aimed at maintaining and enhancing WFP’s visibility and reputation and supporting fundraising activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Content Creation

  • Travel to the field and capture video and photo content
  • Carry out interviews with WFP beneficiaries in the field to help develop the story line behind the visuals
  • Editing video content to fulfil the requirements of the Country Office
  • Produce social-first multimedia content based on current communications priorities and strategies, including campaigns and high-level events as required;
  • Organize incoming content and identify strong storylines particularly for video production;
  • Create assets in different formats based on market trends;
  • Stay up to date on the latest content trends across platforms and test new formats.

Content Management

  • Serve as the social media focal point for WFP Egypt. Manage social media content, complete meta-data;
  • Keep track of incoming content and make sure material on the hub is up to date;
  • Liaise with different units and programmes and provide them with visuals upon request.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

Project Management and Coordination

  • Liaise with the Regional Bureau and external partners to ensure content packages are finalized, approved and ready for publication;
  • Work in coordination with internal stakeholders to develop and implement social-media campaign element

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Business Administration, International Relations Marketing, Business Studies, Communications, Public Relations, Media, journalism or any relevant field of study in the related functional area.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the English and Arabic languages

Experience: at least 6 years of experience in Marketing, Communication, Digital Media or related fields;

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).

In immediate area of responsibility, provides support in developing written, visual, audio and multi-media content for communications materials and suggestions for improved communications processes.
Sociopolitical Contextual Understanding Shows awareness of the multilateral/interagency environment and the dynamics in which WFP operates which informs approach to daily tasks.
Communication Strategy and Planning Demonstrates sound understanding of WFP communications strategy and effectively implements tailored media and communications plans which support the delivery of the strategy.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop;
  • In-depth understanding of content creation for various social platforms;
  • Video editing experience, preferably with Adobe Premiere;
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Team Player and ability to work with others
  • Excellent fluency in Arabic and English, written and verbal;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Fixed-term Appointment: an appointment for a continuous period of one year and shall have a specified expiration date and subject to a probationary period of one year, which may be extended to 18 months.

Annual Net Pay Salary: as per the established salary sacle with then the country

Staff Assessment A staff assessment, comparable to national income tax, shall be applied to the gross salaries and such other payments as are computed on the basis of salary, The assessment shall be calculated at rates set forth in the FAO Administrative Manual.

Dependency allowances: applicable to children up to 18 years of age, or up to 21 years in full-time school attendance

United Nation Joint pension fund a deduction of 7.9% from the pensionable remuneration will be made from the net salary, the WFP will contribute of 15.8%

Medical Insurance: mandatory for staff member and can be extended to dependents in a cost sharing

Annual leave: 2.5 days a month and Sick leave: 2 days per month

Official Holiday: 10 days as officially established for each duty station
