Job title: Infrastructure engineer, in Maan, Jordan
Job purpose:
The infrastructure engineer, a civil engineer, will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the project coordinator in supervising and implementing the project activities up to the highest performance standard for flood mitigation at the downstream area of Al-Wehadi Dam Ma’an. The infrastructure engineer will work closely with the project coordinator engineer and the volunteers, where he will be responsible for reviewing and validating project documents, providing technical training, guidance, and instructions for the volunteers, as well as supervising them during the implementation of the project to ensure that the work will meet the required quality and standards. The infrastructure engineer will directly supervise and manage the refugees and Jordanian volunteers to achieve the goals of the project under the supervision and guidance of the project coordinator.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor the CFWs to carry out construction interventions in accordance with the work plans, regulations, CFWs' SOPs, design, specifications, and the highest standards of work.
- Assist with writing engineering specifications of projects and Perform calculations and engineering evaluations.
- Ability to implement all possible construction methodologies and recommends the best options.
- Review and design drawings, specifications, and BOQ for all project interventions and being knowledgeable about surveying work.
- Data collection and support in MEAL activities.
- Collaborates with construction coordinator to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
- Assessment of the quality of the used materials according to defined standards.
- Other tasks as assigned by the project coordinator or the project manager.
Required Professional Experience
• 2 or more years of full-time technical or professional experience in civil engineering projects such as the construction of riprap, gabions walls, reinforced concrete retaining walls, and hydraulic structures are required.
• Experience in supervising and dealing with 30+ workers.
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or water and environmental engineer with proof of experience in implementation of dams protection project.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
• Experience in implementation and construction details of Gabion, reinforced concrete retaining wall, riprap, and drainage capacity improvement activities.
• Sound knowledge of MS Office software use epically word, excel and outlook as well as Auto CAD, Arc-GIS.
• Excellent reporting skills.
• A good team player but also willing to work on own initiative.
• Location – the individual will need to be on-site (Al-Wehadi Dam) in Ma’an throughout the life of the project

• 95% field work
• 5% office based

Good in written and spoken English required
