Under the guidance of the supervisor, provide professional technical assistance and support in organizing the information generated daily from all programmes within UNICEF JCO WASH and Youth and Adolescence. As lead United Nations agency for the humanitarian WASH sector in Jordan and being Youth and Adolescents a cross sectoral area with growing attention in Jordan , it is crucial for information to be readily maintained and disseminated to relevant WASH and Youth programmes and stakeholders in a timely and consistent manner for evidence-based decision making and effective programmatic response.
To this end, UNICEF Jordan is seeking a qualified Information Management Officer to support the WASH UNICEF and Youth and Adolescence section/sector in Jordan
How can you make a difference?
1. Database and information system design and development
• Support the design, development, and management of databases, spreadsheets, systems and other data tools; and understand, document, and ensure the quality, accuracy, consistency and comparability of data.
• Compile qualitative and quantitative information and coordinate activities between all sector stakeholders in support of the Jordan Response Plan (JRP) and HAC process in a programmatic manner. This includes providing support and guidance to partners and stakeholders in providing annual targets and inputs
• Consolidate data from different data sources by harmonizing data labels, flagging out outliers and cleaning data.
• Provide assistance in producing system specification as well assisting in design development, and integration process of information systems in close coordination and collaboration with relevant UNICEF IM, M&E and program staff, UNICEF Partners’ staff, and field staff.
2. Information Management and Quality Control
• Ensure timely data collection from different sources including UNICEF’s and its partners’ Information Management Systems when applicable and as per program requirements.
• Support data analysis of available datasets, and produce regular statistical reports, visualizations, and maps, necessary to facilitate service delivery, performance monitoring, and decision making.
• Support assessment and needs analysis activities, including humanitarian needs overviews, raw data reviews, initial rapid assessments; support the management of platforms and tools that support data collection and analysis such as KoBo Toolbox and Survey123
Ensure data from WASH and Youth partners and stakeholders, including governmental entities, is periodically and consistently collected and stored in a way that allows comparability and compatibility and is available for regular and ad hoc analyses to support decision making as appropriate.
• Use GIS or online mapping platforms as available to produce or facilitate maps/infographics
• Ensure timely data collection from different sources including UNICEF’s and its partners’ Information Management Systems when applicable and as per program requirements. Examples of UNICEF and UN supported Information Management Systems for WASH and Youth sections: Activity Info, EMS and other assessment tools.
• Support with the roll out of Engagement Monitoring System (EMS) across youth programmes including quality assurance of pre and posts, data entry quality checks, analysis and programmatic recommendations.
3. Capacity building and technical support
• Provide technical support to camp IM focal points including building the database, reporting on progress and achievements, mapping of intervention, and any additional tasks
• Provide technical support and guidance to UNICEF and Sector Partners in the field, to collect, process and manage data. This includes responding to user ad-hoc inquiries.
• Provide technical support to Governmental entities on data compilation and analysis for updating advocacy and vulnerability tools
• Develop guidelines, SOP’s, documentations and other learning materials, and provide trainings to UNICEF and UNICEF implementing partners data collection and data management Staff.
• Build the capacity of UNICEF’s youth partners on the different IM tools including Bayanati, EMS, etc…
• Perform field visits to provide information management support, system technical support, and user support to UNICEF’s Implementing Partners and UNICEF-supported centres.
• Provide any other duty required by the supervisor on data collection, analysis, presentation and visualization
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Education: A University degree or equivalent in a relevant field or discipline such as geographic sciences, statistics, political science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Architecture, or Communications.
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience with management information systems in large organizations or at the country level. Demonstrated experience in data collection, data analysis as well as preparing reports and presentations using ARCGIS. Good interpersonal and communication skills and good analytical skills. Solid experience with common Microsoft Office packages and advanced MS Excel skills and experience working with large datasets required. Good working knowledge of PowerBI is an advantage
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
- Language Requirement: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
