Senior Project Management Officer

About Mercy Corps

Mercy Corps is a leading global organization powered by the belief that a better world is possible. In disaster, in hardship, in more than 40 countries around the world, we partner to put bold solutions into action — helping people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within. Now, and for the future.

Program / Department Summary

Mercy Corps works in places of transition, where conflict, disaster, political upheaval, or economic collapse present opportunities to build more secure, productive, and just communities. Providing emergency relief in times of crisis, we move quickly to help communities recover and build resilience to future shocks, and promote sustainable change by supporting community-led and market-driven initiatives. Recognizing both the great potential and the complex challenges faced by the Middle East, since 1989 Mercy Corps has been implementing a range of humanitarian assistance and development programs tailored to the specific needs of the region and of those communities where we work.

The Promoting the Voice and Leadership of Women Activity (PVLW) is a five-year USAID Activity that provides a critical opportunity to provide this kind of partnership—the kind that shares power, authority, commitment, accountability, and resources— by elevating Jordanian voices and progress in economic, social, and political support for women. PVLW is fueled by the successes and learning of women’s activism and empowerment, economic development, and gender equality programs, and builds on the significant capacities, knowledge, and experiences of the government, the private sector, CSOs, and activists to sustain the hard-fought gains and increase impact.

PVLW serves as a coordinator and convenor for gender equality. The PVLW Team will convene JNCW, USAID and its implementing partners, other donors, and key government partners, such as the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Women’s Empowerment (IMC) and Institute for Public Administration (IPA), to develop a shared vision for how multiple programs contribute to the National Strategy for Women (NSW) in Jordan, USAID’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS), and Jordan’s global gender equality commitments.
