The role of a restaurant area manager is to ensure all restaurants under your jurisdiction are providing the quality of service that your brand expects, while also monitoring sales growth, revenue, and management employees. Your responsibilities as a restaurant area manager require you to ensure policies and procedures clear and in place at every location in your area. Although you do not typically get involved in staff relations, you may field complaints from staff about policies or procedures that managers are ignoring or talk to staff about future promotions. Your duties call on your leadership skills, along with your ability to set goals and help your stores achieve them.

• Leadership: A restaurant area manager oversees a team of restaurant managers, so strong

leadership skills are essential. An area manager oversees the daily operations of multiple restaurants, so they must be able to delegate tasks and responsibilities to their team members. They also need to be able to motivate their team members to work together and achieve common goals.

• Communication: A restaurant area manager must be able to communicate effectively with their team and restaurant management. They must be able to convey information to their team in a way that is easy to understand and relay information from management to their team. They must also be able to communicate with their team in a way that is professional and friendly.

• Problem-solving: As an area manager, you are responsible for overseeing multiple locations and ensuring that each location is operating smoothly. You may be called upon to solve problems that arise, such as a shortage of staff or a food-safety issue. Your ability to identify the problem and find a solution quickly can help you maintain a positive work environment and keep your restaurant running smoothly.
