Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.
INSO provides daily support to more than 1000 NGOs operating in 16 of the world’s most insecure countries.

INSO Syria Country Office
Against the backdrop of violent conflict, the Syria programme supports over 190 NGOs to deliver vitally needed aid and assistance to an estimated 11.7 million people in need across the country. First launched as an emergency response operation in 2014, INSO Syria has grown to become a regional programme, present in all of the regional Syria response hubs.
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our Training Team as Training Assistant to be based in Amman, Jordan. The role also involves travel to Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria.
Job Summary:
The INSO Syria Training Team deliver trainings in personal security, travel safety, security management, crisis management and humanitarian negotiations. Trainings are delivered online and in-person across Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey. The aim of the position is to assist and support participant communications, logistics, procurement, and general administration related to training courses.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage communications with training participants related to invitations, registration, tests, evaluation forms, and all other pre/post-course communication in coordination with the Training Manager.
- Support the booking of venues, meals, transportation, and other logistics related to training.
- Support the writing, distribution and recording of test and evaluation form scores. Update training databases as requested.
- Write Session Reports and other reporting as requested by the Training Manager.
- Support the printing, purchasing, and creation of training materials and supplies. Maintain an inventory of training supplies, materials, and equipment, including safe storage.
- Assist training facilitators during training courses. Opportunities to assist in training facilitation if wanted.
- Support online training – controlling breakout rooms, admission to the online platform, monitoring the chat box etc.
- Attends INSO Syria roundtables, reads INSO reports and remains aware of the Syria context.
- Builds good relationships with local INSO partners.
- Other duties as requested by the Training Manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Post-secondary diploma in relevant field
- Efficient use of Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Excellent working knowledge of English and Arabic (spoken and written)
- Demonstrable experience in administration and/or logistics
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills; able to work independently
- Able to be flexible, adapt to new situations quickly, and problem solve
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with different people
Preferred:
- At least 1-year experience working with International NGOs, field experience a plus.
- Experience with NGO security, access and/or training
- Familiarity with the principles of humanitarian organisations and NGO approaches to security.
