JOB PURPOSE
To provide efficient and safe transportation to senior WFP staff, high ranking UN officials or visitors, and/or provide support in coordinating transport-related services.
How can you make a difference?
In this position you will have to
1. Provide transportation to WFP Directors, high ranking UN officials and those on official mission as assigned by the supervisor.
2. Meet official personnel and visitors on official missions as requested at the shuttle drop off, train station, airport or other entry points and provide basic assistance, to facilitate smooth and safe entry and arrival to the authorized destinations.
3. Responsible for accurate maintenance of the vehicle log books and daily reporting to the supervisor on mechanical status to ensure efficient vehicle use and fuel consumption supporting accurate accounting and cost-efficiency.
4. Efficiently plan and coordinate WFP vehicle maintenance to ensure vehicles are fully equipped with required travel authorizations and supplies, assigned equipment on board is in a good condition to support safe and efficient services.
5. Follow established rules and regulations for field deliveries and/or in cases of an accident, and report immediately to the supervisor on any apparent problems, to seek for instructions and facilitate informative decisions on the way forward.
6. Ensure the VTS system connectivity in the vehicle at all times (24/7) and that it is in good running order. In addition, ensure that the vehicle is used only for official and approved missions and activities as per guidance of the supervisor.
7. Ensure that the WFP vehicle is parked at a secure location as per the WFP guidelines and regulations and as directed by WFP security.
8. Outside driving duties, perform basic office related tasks such as filing, photocopying, provide support with seeking quotation from suppliers to ensure administrative support to WFP as assigned by the supervisor.
9. Read and understand specific vehicle operating manual to ensure the safe and appropriate operations of the vehicle.
10. Liaise and coordinate with local authorities to facilitate smooth running of vehicle/vessel movements in the designated area.
11. Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
12. Coordinate WFP shuttle service on Poland side, respond to any issues with UN shuttle passengers.
13. Coordinate and help with arrangement of WFP related needs and equipment from EU to Ukraine as requested by supervisor.
14. Report fuel consumption of assigned WFP vehicle and operational advance in according with WFP finance requirements.
15. Perform other related duties as required by supervisors.

Education: Completion of secondary school education. Formal drivers training with a valid driver’s license/Certification to operate assigned vehicle following local rules and regulations (C/C1 Class).
Experience: Three (3) or more years of work experience as a driver, preferably in an international organization, embassy, or UN system with a demonstrated safe driving record. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans, trucks, and other kinds of motorized vehicles. Experience in defensive driving is desirable.
Language: Ability to communicate in English. Ability to effectively communicate in Ukrainian and Russian.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads/waterways and conditions, and security issues.
• Good understanding of transport services and ability to coordinate routes and schedules for other Drivers.
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations whichever applicable.
• Knowledge of safety standards and safety equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers, buoyant wearable safety devices, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and skills in minor vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of the vehicle loading capacity and other parameters.
• Knowledge and ability to use radio, email, telephone and other applications.
• Basic skills to assist in case of emergency, knowledge of first aid basic methods.
• Ability to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, and tact.
• Full computer literacy on Windows and MS Office is mandatory.
