BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Technology and connectivity are rapidly reaching some of the most vulnerable people and places affected by crisis, but they are also increasingly expanding to the services responding to those same crises. As one of the main humanitarian actors, WFP has the opportunity and the obligation to leverage data and technology to better know and serve those in need by digitally transforming the way it works. The Technology Division (TEC) has embarked in a transformation journey to become a flexible, customer-centric, digital leader and is currently looking for a Project Manager to support the implementation of the new Strategic Plan (2022–2025) and Corporate Results Framework (CRF) across relevant IT solutions. The implementation of new Strategic Plan and CRF will require changes in corporate systems and platforms, and new guidance and approaches, to accommodate the introduction of five new outcomes and related outputs, management results, revised outcome and output indicators and activity categories as well as closer UN system alignment. Working in the Project Management Office, the Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of IT project outputs within timeframe and budget as well as resource mobilization. The incumbent will apply his/her project and portfolio management skills and techniques to ensure that the TEC project teams have the necessary support and coordination to meet field and other stakeholders’ needs and expectations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Elaborate the Project Plan ensuring the project will be completed in timely fashion and within budget, establish clear projects teams and clear objectives/targets and ensure the endorsement from the project team and key stakeholders in the Division.
- Monitor the execution, progress and continued alignment of projects with IT Strategy across TEC portfolio ensuring project teams are supported throughout the delivery.
- Collect records and other deliverables from projects, making sure projects are executed in accordance to planned deliverables meeting current business goals.
- Continuously monitor and report on available project funding, actuals and forecast expenditures.
- Contribute to the development and implementation, when necessary, of frameworks and processes aimed at standardizing and streamlining the project management approach within TEC.
- Support the implementation of the OKR (Objective and Key Results) model across the entire division.
- Engage with key stakeholders in order to align on project dependencies, agree on resource skills acquisition as well as resource capacity, and define budget requirements and limitations.
- Provide appropriate visibility of TEC portfolio to senior management via ad hoc reports/dashboards to enable informed decision-making and escalating potential issues accordingly.
- Support risk management activities at a Divisional level in order to identify, prevent and mitigate the different risks, along with continuous follow-up of TEC Key Risk Indicators.
- Facilitate a culture of learning through project management training and support to TEC project managers and stakeholders.
- Other duties as required.
DELIVERABLES:
- Identification, monitoring and tracking of projects’ objectives, milestones, key results and corresponding KPIs as part of the divisional workplan and in through the corporate project management tool.
- Support the implementation of a more uniform and streamlined project management methodology aimed at making the divisional work more efficient and coordinated.
- Development of standard tools and documentation across TEC supporting project and portfolio management.
- Creation of ad-hoc reports designed to reflect the progress and performance of an individual project as well as a portfolio of projects, which can drive and support management decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology or related fields. Project Management education/ certifications are desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in project management within an organisation and proven record of management and delivery of the full cycle of projects, ideally IT-related projects.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge and experience with project management methodologies, including Agile/Scrum and project management software tools.
- Excellent ability in implementing monitoring activities, data gathering and analysis.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Power Point); Tableau knowledge.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, navigate through multiple priorities and conflicting requests.
- Collaborative hands-on team member and relationship-builder with a facilitative nature and strong business partnering skills towards colleagues and stakeholders.
- Creative and committed.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Positive and resilient, passionate about change and driven to exceeding client's expectations through exceptional delivery.
- Organized with attention to detail to ensure projects run efficiently.

Language:
- Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese, is desirable.

WFP offers a competitive compensation package, which will be determined by the contract type and selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
