Programme Associate (Social Protection) G6
JOB PURPOSE
The selected candidate will closely work with the main national and international partners within the social protection domain and support the WFP internal coordination with programme support teams and relevant activities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1. Contribute to Country Office’s technical advisory role for the government on a wide range of social protection programme and policy issues to support government’s efforts to reduce hunger, malnutrition and poverty through national social protection schemes.
2. Support the formulation and provision of technical assistance packages to government counterparts, particularly the National Aid Fund (NAF), to enhance national social protection systems, including targeting, entitlement, delivery, verification, accountability, evidence generation and reporting.
3. Liaise with WFP Jordan’s technical specialists to coordinate the technical assistance interventions done for national partners, in particular but not limited to NAF.
4. Contribute to the consolidation, development and dissemination of knowledge and/or advocacy products pertinent to shock-responsiveness and inclusiveness of the national social protection system.
5. Research, analyse and support technical work on the graduation
6. Regularly monitor social protection related publications, reports, papers and disseminate knowledge products among relevant WFP JOCO teams.
7. Support monitoring of funds allocations and track disbursements per activities of government institutions.
8. Support social protection related reporting activities.
9. Attend external events linked to social protection and contribute to CO’s social protection strategic positioning.
10. Others as required.
Skills
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area.
Experience:
• Minimum 6 years of professional working experience.
• Experience with national social protection systems, including responsibility for liaising with different line ministries at national and decentralized levels.
Language: Fluency in oral and written communication in Arabic and intermediate level in English.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Understanding of Agenda 2030 and respective targets – particularly SDG1, SDG2 and SDG17 – and how the work of WFP can contribute to achieving them
• Understanding of WFP’s mandate, Country Strategic Planning process, intervention modalities, programme and project lifecycle tools, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation desirable
• Strong knowledge of main social protection actors in Jordan
• Knowledge of current domestic and global developments in the field of social protection and public policy
• UN or donor experience, especially with WFP and/or UNICEF, World Bank, EU or FCDO is an asset
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written outputs and ability to present in English and Arabic
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, conveying an informed and professional demeanour towards internal and external partners and stakeholders
• Appetite for exploring and experimenting new ideas and approaches
• Ability to work as part of a team, participating in open dialogues and valuing diverse opinions of others, regardless of gender, culture, background, experience, or country assignment
• Proficient computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
