ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The Architecture branch (TECA) is looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect with the passion and vision for providing enterprise architecture services to support WFP operations. Reporting to the Chief of IT Architecture Branch of the Technology Division, the Business Transformation Officer will play an important role in transforming business objectives into a cohesive and effective WFP Digital Landscape. They will use their substantial business and technical knowledge, with a focus on providing enterprise solution services delivering high value through a variety of leading technologies. Working with the Architecture Team, Solution Architects, and other TEC units, the Business Transformation Officer will also be part of thought leadership activities and provide strategic and tactical advice to WFP business units.
The Enterprise Architect shall possess strong application architecture, information architecture, integration practices and general technical skills to design and oversee core enterprise solutions. They must also have a broad understanding of all enterprise architecture layers including business architecture, application architecture, information architecture, infrastructure architecture, security architecture, and governance. Candidates must have strong project execution capabilities, possess strong leadership and collaboration capabilities, excellent communication skills, be focused on continuous improvement and Enterprise Innovation, and have strong attention to detail while delivering high-quality work. The Enterprise Architect is responsible for providing strategic guidance, research, planning, and best practices to our business executive leaders to make investment decisions that align with the long-term vision of the organization.
JOB PURPOSE
This position will lead and execute a variety of Enterprise Architecture solutions-related work for our business community.
The position will spearhead efforts to identify and deliver Enterprise Architecture services that support Enterprise Assessments, Technology Roadmaps, Data Management, and Data Integration /Middleware Solutions to our clients with a strong emphasis on teamwork, customer commitment, industry best practices, and continuous improvement.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for designing architectures for the organization's information systems. This includes defining the overall strategy and direction for the organization's technology infrastructure, as well as developing and maintaining the architecture roadmap and standards.
- Contribute to the development of the architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap for the organization's information systems, aligning architecture strategy with business goals.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and other teams to understand their needs and requirements, and to ensure that the architecture aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Review existing business processes and establish metrics to improve business processes.
- Apply industry experience and best practices to architect, design, develop, and implement Enterprise Architecture (EA) solutions to support complex business requirements.
- Work with business leaders to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology trade-offs influence strategy.
- Perform the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends.
- Identify and assess new technologies, tools, and platforms that could be leveraged to improve the organization's technology infrastructure.
- Define and maintain the architecture principles, standards, and guidelines that govern the design and development of the organization's information systems.
- Develop and maintain high-level architectural models, views, and diagrams that depict the organization's information systems and their relationships.
- Actively participate on Enterprise Architecture-related technical committees and review board to promote and expand our architecture capabilities, experience, and solutions providing thought leadership and ensuring that the solutions are compliant with target-state architecture models.
- Actively contribute to the EA governance processes and manages exceptions or dispensation to architectural standard at an enterprise level.
- Advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities.
- Identify, write, and present Enterprise Architecture Strategies and technical papers, white papers, and presentations.
- Provide technical Leadership and guidance to the organization's IT teams and project teams, to help them implement the architecture effectively and efficiently
- Develop and communicate architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures, as well as develops a communication plan for architecture at the enterprise level.
- Ensures recommendations are based on business relevance, appropriate timing, and deployment.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the organization's information systems, and provide recommendations for improvement
- Mentor and provide technical guidance and leadership to Jr. staff members.
- Manage a team of staff and/or contractors (as applicable), providing coaching, training, and guidance to ensure appropriate development and enable high performance.
- The Enterprise Architect will work closely with other members of the TEC leadership team, as well as business stakeholders, to ensure that the organization's information technology landscape is aligned with its business objectives and supports its operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Advanced University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis, or a related field or Bachelor’s Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
- Certification in TOGAF or similar Enterprise Architecture best practices is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 8 years of experience providing Enterprise Architecture Strategies, Enterprise Integration solutions and services leveraging various applications and technical platforms.
- Excellent Enterprise Architecture and Integration skills, including business, data application and cloud architecture, integration and other architectural methods and practices.
- Led or participated in a minimum of 3 large-scale Enterprise Transformation projects using industry Enterprise Architecture strategy solutions and integration technologies.
- Requires exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
- Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture, business re-engineering principles and processes, and basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting.
- Strong ability to influence or lead Enterprise Integration project execution.
- Experience with leading edge application, integration technology and solutions utilizing data strategies.
- Experience working in organizations that apply: Waterfall and Agile, Scale Agile Framework, DevOps, Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and Human-Centred Design (HCD)
- Demonstrated experience in managing technology projects and supervision of team members.
- Experience in transforming business trends into target architectures and new solution designs.
LANGUAGE:
- Fluency (level C) in the English language.
- Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese (A WFP’s working language

Technical skills:
- Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics.
- Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills.
- Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture.
- Knowledge of business engineering principles and processes.
- Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, tools, and model repositories.
- Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and risk management.
Leadership skills:
- Building consensus, particularly in the face of competing design requirements
- Ability to influence / coach solution architects on modern evolutionary platform architecture principles and practices.
- Organizationally savvy and understanding of the political climate of the enterprise and how to navigate obstacles and politics.
