Charge Nurse

– To facilitate expert multidisciplinary care for the patient and their dependents, by direction`s, supervision and example.

– To act as a clinical and managerial resource for the unit.

– Conjunction with head nurses.

– To liaise and cooperate with other relevant department.

– To provide professional leadership including participation in standard setting and leading in the maintenance care standards.

– To participate in the education and development of all grades of staff.

– To provide resuscitation cover for the hospital when necessary.

– To cover the head nurses when needed as well as other staff nurses.

– EDUCATION/ LICENSURE:

– BSC or Master degree in Nursing with minimum of good grading.

– Maintains valid registration in country of origin.

– Must have valid SCFHS license.

– PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

– Has worked as a staff nurse for a minimum of six (6) years.

– Provides clinical supervision of patient care and job performance supervision of all employees on an assigned shift.

– Identifies the number and level of personnel needed to provide patient care and adjusts staffing and assignments appropriately.

– Provides nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based outcomes to meet patient care needs.

– Supervises nurses and caregivers on their assigned shifts.

– Provides direction and leadership in critical emergency situations ensuring patient safety is maintained.

– Follow preceptors / preceptee as needed, provides training and reviews staff competencies.

– Participating in identifying and providing learning experiences for the staff as documented in daily staff assignments and annual performance evaluation goals.

– Participates in Patient Safety and Family Education Program.

– To manage resources economically and efficiently
