Site Civil Engineer

Site civil Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of GIZ – Green Infrastructure project for the rehabilitation component, based in the project sites. S/he will assist the Project Manager and is responsible for successful delivery of civil & structural scope of the project to high quality standards, determines design and practical technical solutions for the planning and implementation of external spaces including civil, structural, surveys etc. at designated project sites in East Amman.

Objectives

1-To ensure successful delivery of the civil/structural in all GIZ project sites.

2-To represent ACTED in project sites and provide technical advices, instruction during ACTED intervention in project sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

Objective 1:

a) Support the Architect Engineer and Project Manager in preparation of the project sites B.O.Qs & auto-CAD files to utmost accuracy.

b) To assist the Project Manager of technical implementation (specially related to civil, structural & surveying) of the work in the project site.

c) To follow the project technical designs implementations and execute it as per the details stipulated in the project sketch and BoQs.

d) To follow up with the contractor (if any) the execution of the work quality, safety, time and costs.

e) Propose solutions to the specified construction/design issues in close coordination with Architect Engineer and Project Manager

f) Demonstrating an understanding of the civil, structural & surveying technical components of the project.

g) Overseeing civil, structural and surveying project design execution.

h) Close Coordination with other relevant disciplines such as other ACTED Engineers, AME, HR, Logistics, and security.

i) Prepare daily site progress reports outlining project activities, prepare detailed estimates related to construction, highlight challenges, and propose solutions and corrective action to Project Manager.

k) Represent ACTED in meetings with relevant project stakeholders and actors after project manager consent. Support Project Manager in coordination & Communication of project success stories, progress on construction component of the project and the impact of ACTED intervention in the intervention area.

Objective 2:

a) S/he will assist the Project manager on CfW worker selection ahead of each CfW cycle.

b) S/he will be accountable to ensure that all of the CfWs are following the safety procedures and there are strong rules in place on monitoring and controlling the workers safety on the designated site(s).

c) Responsible for safe keeping, handling and management of the project resources at the implementation site.

d) Inspect and monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to standards, building codes, and specifications

e) Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs and marking the layout drawings.

f) Supervise the workers during the civil, structural & surveying technical implementation of the project step by step.

g) S/he accountable for Warehouse management for the designated site (s).

المهارات

Key qualities / qualifications required

a) BSc in Civil Engineering or related field (relevant field experience can substitute for academic qualifications but not vice-versa).

b) Minimum 4 years of experience in similar projects in an international relief or development setting including team management and liaison with various stakeholders (e.g. local communities, other NGOs, UN agencies), in addition, experience in Rehabilitation of parks and concrete stairs, BoQ development, contractor management, experience in green building/outdoor areas design is preferred.

c) Minimum 2 years of experience in contracting companies.

d) Demonstrated communication and organizational skills

e) Ability to train, mobilize, and manage staff

f) Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office.

g) Being aware about any new techniques can be implemented for the green infrastructure component.

h) Ability to use computer program such as AutoCAD & Sketchup.
