Culinary Instructor

Role Purpose:

The Culinary Instructor is responsible for providing culinary art courses. He/ She must have a strong aptitude and desire to help people change their lives and enter the world of Hospitality and Tourism through instruction and guidance. They work closely with the Executive Chef and Head of School in order to ensure they are delivering students the best possible learning experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences;
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans for Bakery and Pastry;
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities;
  • Prepare the classroom for class activities;
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities;
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs;
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development;
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments;
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development;
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations;
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities;
  • Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • BA in Hospitality and Tourism/ Hotel Management, MA is a plus.
  • 10-12 years’ professional Hospitality/Chef experience.
  • 8+ years' professional experience as a Lecturer or educator.
  • HACCP and Culinary Training.
  • Experience coaching and developing a team.
  • Consistently interested in the consumption of new trends and incorporating these into the existing curriculum.
  • Research and management skills.
  • Fluent in English.
