Role Overview:
|
- The GBV & Protection Officer ensures the application of a protection approach with gender lenses in all projects and activities carried out by Alianza Por la Solidaridad Jordan. She has strong analytical abilities in order to foresee protection risks, especially for women, as well as to propose and implement measures to prevent and mitigate them. The GBV & Protection Officer knows key policies and SOPs in the fields of protection, gender issues, and SGBV and is able to draft or adapt others. The GBV & Protection Officer is in charge, under the supervision and guidance of the Women’s Rights Programme Manager, of ensuring gender and protection mainstreaming in all projects, programmes, and actions of the organization. She will also support the program manager in the implementation of the ongoing projects under Alianza portfolio (currently 2).

|
- Ensure mainstreaming of gender and protection in all projects, actions, and strategies of Alianza in order to identify the vulnerabilities of women and the communities we work with and the protection risks and threats they may face, especially regarding SGBV.
- Propose and implement measures and activities to prevent and mitigate different situations of violence, including SGBV, and to prevent the eventual negative impact of our actions on the safety and security of women and people with special vulnerabilities
- Collect and systematize key data and information on SGBV, protection, and any type of violence faced by women.
- Provide support to Alianza and its partners on key SGBV and protection issues such as confidentiality, prevention, activities impact, referral and case management, SOPs and public policies in place, coordination systems, etc.
- Contribute to review of communication and visibility materials done by the organization and its partners in order to ensure they comply with confidentiality rules and don’t put women, children, or other vulnerable populations at risk
- Support the implementation of activities at the community level aiming at preventing gender violence(s) and promoting women’s rights and leadership
- Design, facilitate and/or support training on the fields of women’s rights, SGBV, and protection, including PSEA, SHEA, confidentiality, identification, and referral of SGBV cases, women leadership, gender roles, positive parenthood, new masculinities, among others.
- Monitor and assess multisectoral services for GBV provided by Alianza’s partners in order to reach the highest standards of quality.
- Support the elaboration of an innovative methodology for the arising new models of masculinity that are gender-sensitive and positioned against the SGBV
- Collaborate with the WR PM in the monitoring and implementation of projects and programmes under the Alianza portfolio.
- Liaise when needed with partners and other stakeholders for the success of her tasks and the protection and GBV prevention approach of the organization
- Conduct regular visits to the Programmes Location.
- Collaborate closely with the AAAR-APS campaigning and communication coordinator in implementing and reporting the campaign activities.
- Participate in the scaling-up process and new funding opportunities.
- Efficiently contribute to the draft of internal and external reports and drafting monthly progress reports, as per the reporting format provided by the program manager.
- Participate in cluster meetings such as GBV sub-working groups, and other meetings and provide feedback.

Person Specification

Education & Certifications
|
- University degree, preferably in Human Rights, Psychology, Law/International Law, Sociology, or other related domains of Social Sciences.
- Specialized title (preferably master’s degree) in Gender, Sexual/Gender-Based Violence, and/or Protection.
- Further education or title on project management and logical framework will be an asset.

Essential Experience
|
- At least 3 years of experience in NGO or public sector in the fields of SGBV and protection
- Experience in the development of humanitarian projects concerning women’s rights and prevention and response towards SGBV
- Experience providing training on gender, protection, and SGBV issues to different audiences
- Experience in MEAL, project management, and/or research will be an asset
