Position Summary

The position is responsible for directing the facility, health, safety, and security operations for Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q).

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides pro-active oversight and planning of the FHSS budget, facility – infrastructure, systems, support services, maintenance, modifications, expansion planning, safety, security, environmental health, event services, transportation, and the FHSS team.
  • Ensures that WCM-Q operations comply with applicable WCMC U.S.A, and local environmental health, safety, security, building codes, and regulations.
  • Owns responsibility for the facility systems and operations.
  • Provides expert leadership on all FHSS programs and issues across WCM-Q.
  • Leads facility planning, preventative maintenance, and modification across the campus.
  • Acts as a liaison on behalf of WCMQ with QF and QF contracted vendors on planning, execution, and on-time delivery of all projects.
  • Serves as the WCM-Q EHS Officer, Radiation Protection Officer, Biological Safety Officer, Chemical Hygiene Officer, and Fire Safety Officer.
  • Responsible for the overall safety and security of the campus, including but not limited to incident response plan, building access, college emergency preparedness, and contract security staff.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures for all facility operations, including but not limited to safety and environmental reviews, chemical transport and storage, waste disposal, and routine maintenance.
  • Oversees the operations and management of campus pantry and food and beverage services, including inventory control and hygiene.
  • Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates WCM-Q FHSS's employees and contractors.
  • Oversees all facility support services provided by the QF contracted staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or Master’s degree with appropriate experience. Minimum 12 – 15 years of progressive job-related experience in facilities, including leadership/supervisory experience at comparatively sized institutions.
  • Prior experience working in an academic or medical environment (highly desirable).
  • Related professional qualifications, membership and licensing from professional bodies or trade associations are highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and the ability to apply sound supervisory practices to manage various issues.
  • Advanced project planning and management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task with strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Direct experience handling toxic gases and liquids, transporting hazardous wastes, clean room operations, environmental compliance, and industrial-type safety programs (highly desirable).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
