Job Description

Starting date: March 2023

Location: Amman/Jordan

Contract: 12 months (potential extension based on funds available and work performance)

Salary: According to CDE’s internal salary grid

Position within the Organization: Reports to Early Detection Senior officer

Location: Amman, Jordan

Description of the Organization:

La Chaîne de l’Espoir (CDE) is a French non-profit organization founded in 1994. It’s an independent and impartial international aid organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict, and disaster. A key player in healthcare, CDE is committed to providing medical treatment and education to the children who need it the most, their families and communities.

Program in Jordan

CDE has been active in Jordan since 2012, carrying out orthopedic and cardiac surgeries for vulnerable populations, Jordanian and refugees, mainly children in need of lifesaving, life-changing surgery, and specialized care. Since 2017, CDE’s mission in Jordan has included in its program strategy the inclusion of early detection to prevent and mitigate physical impairments such as developmental dysplasia of the hip.

General description:

The overall objective of the Early Detection assistant is to support the component of the program which consists in implementing the strategy and work plan for the early detection, as well as the provision of treatment whenever suitable. This includes supports conducting theoretical training and awareness sessions and follow-up of the patients and relations with partners and referring NGOs.

Capacity Building:

  • Support the Cardiac and Orthopedic training sessions and workshops.
  • Assist in conducting awareness sessions and coordinating all capacity building sessions planned under the project.
  • Assist ED senior officer in cooperation with other health organizations and partners for the training sessions to convoke trainees (General practitioner, pediatrician, nurses, and midwives…. etc.) and develop partners’ network.
  • Support in mapping of local services providers to collaborate with in the project
  • Ensure smooth relationships with the different stakeholders including local and I/NGOs, and identify areas of collaboration and synergies, especially on enhancing cross referrals.

Campaigns, Treatments, and Follow up of Patients:

  • Support in the early detection campaign days.
  • Follow patients who treated through the early detection campaigns.
  • Follow the referral process and additional health appointments for any care needed.
  • Ensure that patient’s files are filled in properly and in a timely manner.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Ensure that the reports of the patients examined and treated through the early detection campaign are appropriately filled and updated.
  • Ensure the updated follow-up of the early detection and treatment activities in the database.
  • provide regular reporting on the progress of the activities and propose recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure that confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data is respected and implemented.
  • Ensure regular monitoring of files and database records.

Other

  • Ensure confidentiality of data and information related to patients, their care and family.
  • Report any security, ethical or acceptance-related issues to his/her line manager.
  • Contribution to troubleshoot access or availability issues for patients.
  • Translate verbally and by writing when necessary.
  • Participate in team meetings or any other relevant internal and external meetings.
  • Perform any other additional duties upon instruction given by his/her line manager or technical referent whenever applicable.

Team Relationship

The Assistant:

  • Is under the direct supervision of the early detection senior officer in Jordan.
  • Works closely with and in support of the whole team.

Profile – National Position

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, midwife or another related field with at least 2 years of practical experience.
  • Training on Orthopedic and good command on DDH and club foot early detection methodologies and treatments are strongly desired.

Required Experience:

  • Experience of more than 2 years working in the Health NGO/Humanitarian sector.
  • Experience working with refugees and vulnerable children and youth.
  • Experience in designing and implementing capacity-building plans and training.
  • Knowledge of referral mechanisms
  • Ability to work with partners, civil society organizations, public and private services providers and public authorities.

Specific Competencies

  • Very good command in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Broad Experience using and updating databases (Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Previous experience in analyzing and collecting data.
  • Understanding of Jordanian social protection mechanisms

Languages

  • Fluent in Arabic (speaking, writing, reading).
  • Professional working knowledge of English.
  • French a plus
