SUMMARY
The Finance Assistant works under the direction of the Senior Finance Officer and the Finance & Administration Manager in providing support in Finance and Accounting to ensure effective and efficient operations of IOCC Jordan. The Finance Assistant is responsible for recording accurate financial details of projects, including maintaining financial records, processing payments, and maintaining IOCC Jordan’s archiving system.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that all financial transactions and procedures are undertaken in accordance with IOCC’s policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements, in a transparent and accountable manner.
- Prepare journal vouchers; make sure to code all expenditures following the standard chart of accounts and coded budget.
- Enter daily data in accounting/financial software system (Financial Edge) and excel spreadsheets.
- Assist the Senior Finance Officer, as well as the Finance & Admin Manager, in verifying procurement according to IOCC and donor procedures, as well as authority limits
- Maintain accurate records and files of all financial transactions, reports, and supporting documentation, in accordance with IOCC, donor, and audit requirements
- Match invoices to statements and purchase orders to invoices
- Review and check sub-recipients’ invoices and vouchers.
- Distribute checks to the beneficiaries and volunteers in the office and in the field, as assigned
- Participate and facilitating the annual, internal and projects audits.
- Ensure that scanning of all financial documents is completed (at least) on monthly basis
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Skills: Experience with preparing journal vouchers, experience with the accounting cycle, proficiency in computer skills (particularly Excel); excellent communication skills; fluency in English and Arabic
Competencies: Ability to work under pressure to meet the deadlines, ability to work in dynamic environment, ability to build strong personal and organizational relationships with all internal and external staff; tenacity in observing procedures, regulations, local laws; and other requirements in implementing and maintaining IOCC programs; good analytical and problem-solving abilities; and demonstrable initiative and creativity.
Education: Bachelor's level in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience: A minimum of one-year relevant experience, preferably with an INGO.

- Program Department – Provide support in preparation of payments for approved expenditures under final project budgets
- Administration & Support Officer – Coordinate on office-related expenditures and payments, as well as other administrative and procurement tasks
WORKING CONDITIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Primary work location(s) in Amman, Jordan, with travel to the field for financial monitoring and provision of payments
- Awareness of local security situation and conditions
- Professional personal dress, behavior, speech and conduct in accordance with IOCC policies
