Business Development Services Specialist (BDS) will engage directly with private sector entities active in the water sector, to support the commercial expansion of the supply of water saving goods and services across Jordan’s agri, industrial commercial and municipal sectors. The BDS will work with these suppliers to better understand the needs of their existing and potential clients thereby supporting development and implementation of business expansion plans leading to increased uptake of water saving technologies and treated wastewater.

Under the supervision of the Director of Market Systems & Private Sector Engagement (MS&PSE Director), to whom he/she will report, the BDS will have the following responsibilities:

Works closely with private sector entities active in the water sector, to identify opportunities and support the commercial expansion of the supply of water-saving goods and services across Jordan’s agri, industrial commercial and municipal sectors. Supports WEC project partners, and grantees to improve their business performance and profitability following adoption and scale up of use of water saving technologies and best practices. Oversees WEC Business Performance Internship program designed to develop and apply the skillsets required to increase supply and use of water saving technologies in Jordan. Provides technical assistance in business development, financial management, labor laws, gender equity, and social inclusion. Perform other tasks as appropriate and as determined by his/her direct supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in business administration or relevant discipline and 3 years in relevant field or 8 years’ experience of relevant work. Demonstrate understanding of agriculture, agribusiness, private sector, and sustainable value chain development. Demonstrate a deep understanding of agriculture, agribusiness, private sector development and sustainable value chain development. Excellent planning, reporting, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), problem solving and relationship management skills. Excellent communication skills and previous experience of private sector engagement in Jordan’s agriculture sector.
