About JCLA
Established in 2008, the Justice Center for Legal Aid (JCLA), in a non-government, non-profit and national access to justice organisation dedicated to legal empowerment. JCLA is committed to empowering and enabling all economically disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Jordan with a view to realizing a society where everyone has equal access to justice.
JCLA’s legal empowerment program’s mission is to provide high quality access to justice services (including legal consultations, in-court representations, guided self-representations, accompaniment, protection and detention hotline, and negotiation services), enhance legal literacy and demystifying the law, as well as advocacy and research.
Job Scope
Reporting to the Head of Project Management, the Junior M&E – Project Management Officer will support in planning, overseeing and coordinating the design and implementation of projects across the organization.
The Officer will require solid technical proficiency, communication skills and data analysis, as well as the ability to work within a highly cross-functional and large team. The Officer will support the implementation of a wide variety of projects with the objective of improving program effectiveness and ensuring donor compliance.
The Junior Officer is a young professional (1-2 years of experience is a plus) who is looking to advance their career in the project management field in a not-for-profit organization. Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
Specific Responsibilities
- Provide regular support and advice to technical and program units on projects’ progress, targets and specific requirements, as well as implementation and reporting deadlines.
- Regularly monitor progress and performance across active projects to ensure all activities are on track and implemented in line with project requirements.
- Support in regular communications with technical and program units to receive and provide updates on active projects, ensure challenges are well-captured and flag any critical issues.
- Contribute to drafting budget reallocation requests as needed, to ensure valid technical justification based on program teams’ feedback.
- Report writing: collection of data and information from program teams and other relevant units, drafting high-quality narrative donor and internal reports within deadlines.
- Ensure the planning, implementation, and monitoring/evaluation and sets targets as included in the project description and logframes.
- Draft and implement M&E assessment tools including data collection instruments (survey questionnaires, focus group discussions questions, key informant interviews) to ensure quality and timely tracking of projects outputs and outcomes.
- Provide administrative support, as required, to donor engagements and meetings.
- Contribute to designing budgets and logframe during project proposal development.
- Monitor the financial performance of projects and resources allocations in coordination with finance and other units.
- Propose tools, standards, regulations and internal procedures necessary to improve the work efficiency of the unit and to present them to the unit’s Head.
- Prepare and regularly review a detailed activity plan with all teams within the organization.
Skills, Experience, Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in international development, industrial engineering, computer science, economics, finance, or a related field.
- Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point).
- Fluency in both English and Arabic. Strong writing and communication skills in English is a must.
- Good organizational and management skills and ability to multi-task and take notes.
- Strong research, information gathering, analysis and presentation skills.
- Previous 1 – 2 years’ experience in a similar role is preferred.
