Job Description and Qualifications

As a Senior Planner, you will:

Have a sound understanding of project scheduling techniques, schedule basis creation, WBS and CBS structuring methodology and key work process for logic creation, cost and resource loading required for schedule creation. Work with Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers and Lead Engineers to proactively develop and status the schedule.

Main responsibilities and activities include:

  • Development of integrated Level 2 and 3 schedules for Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Construction and Commissioning phases.
  • Creation and maintenance of 90 day lookahead and Early works look ahead schedules
  • Development of Proposal Level 2 schedules to support ongoing bids.
  • Collection of information / production of monthly Status Reports for Project Managers.
  • Production of progress, productive curves and earned value reporting.
  • Production / issue of formal reports (with input from Projects).
  • Preparing ad hoc progress reports to facilitate effective controls within Engineering.
  • Provide statistical data for management reviews.
  • Regular project team reviews, Public Planning Meeting and Last Planner Meetings.
  • Initiate day-to-day discussions with all groups involved in a project to assess the change / schedule implication of ongoing work.
  • Schedule reduction exercises to provide ballpark schedule views for alternatives.
  • Assist project team in development of action plans to avoid / minimise cost / schedule overruns.
  • Attend Lead Engineer’s Meetings.
  • Integrate Master schedule with contractor’s schedule.
  • Monitor contactor progress and provide highlights on critical items on a weekly basis.
  • Analyse contractors monthly updated schedule for any impact on project critical path, provide various analysis to help Project Management in decision making.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

General Experience: Sound knowledge, proven skills and competencies in application of project planning principles, methodologies and tools, supporting all phases of project execution, particularly around schedule development, progress measurement/reporting and earned value, within a large project-oriented EPC or Owner Organization. Must have a track record of delivering accurate schedule information, reporting and guidance to senior management. Experience within an Oil & Gas, Chemical processing or related business and equivalent projects a further benefit. Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project experience is essential. Experience using monte carlo type schedule analysis software is desirable. Experience within an Oil & Gas/Chemical industry or related business a further benefit.

Global Project Planning Experience: Proven skills and experience of planning of projects on global basis, executed by multiple engineering offices. Understanding of a variety of project types, structures and contract terms. This includes sale of gas (SOG), third party sale of equipment (SOE) and joint ventures.

Flexibility: Open to relocate internationally for longer duration, to contactor’s office, fabrication yard and construction site to support project / organizational needs.

Determined, Adaptable and Resilient: Able to achieve success under significant pressure, evolving requirements, and conflicting priorities.

Culturally Astute: Experienced and able to work with within a diverse office environment, multi-region project execution, and to therefore achieve success with a multi-cultural team. Experience of Customer and external stakeholder regional cultures, and ability to achieve success with those cultures

Relationship Network: Established and proven internal relationships with key individuals in all teams in all regions, with the ability to build strong relationships to apply leverage to execute the project.

Core Competencies: Commercial and technical acumen, working knowledge of project cost controls tools and systems. Proven skills in cost control, coupled with a working knowledge of project management, business development and finance.

As a Senior Planner – Construction, you will have:

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Numerate or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years of work experience on major capital engineering projects in an EPC head office environment.
  • Experienced user of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Significant site construction experience.
  • Demonstrated technical competency in the field of project Planning
  • Ability to work within an established team to achieve targets and goals.
  • Excellent oral and written English proficiency is a must.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and proficiency with the Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, One Note)
  • Working knowledge of SAP, EcoSys PM, Primavera P6, Deltek Acumen is desirable
