NGHC Sr Project Engineer – Green Hydrogen Element (GHE)

Job Description and Qualifications

NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC)

Air Products has entered into an agreement with ACWA Power and NEOM (all 3 have equal ownership) for the development of a $5bl green hydrogen-based ammonia production facility sited in NEOM. This is based on renewable energy principles and the project will integrate over four gigawatts of renewable solar, wind and storage power. It will produce green ammonia for export to global markets. The project is scheduled to be onstream in 2026.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for Project Engineering and Execution aspects of GHE Project, but not limited to scope, development, plan and execution strategy / plan with success factors (Safety, Schedule, Quality and Budget) including both external and internal customer satisfaction and other key specific objectives.

NATURE & SCOPE

The main functions of this position are:

Engage with the contractor and review project documents including specs, drawings and procedures.
Monitor the procurement activities and intervene if technical deviations, quality issues, and/or delivery delays are encountered.
Engage in verification of scope changes when needed
Provide Project Management Support to Contractor
Monitor project status, provide periodic updates to management
Manage interface of important project matters and issues among key stakeholders internal and external parties/entities.
Perform / lead project review weekly meetings and update with project reports.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

Monitor compliance to scope, applicable codes, standards, and specifications
Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions
Interact with the client to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field
Monitor budget, schedule, plans, and performance, and report regularly on project status
manage scope changes and handle change order development
Work with contractor on resolution of issues for Engineering, Procurement, and construction phases

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION and/or QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Engineering Degree in field of Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Eight to Twelve years of Project Experience in the complex or integrated process plants as lead Project engineer
Experience working to international codes relevant to heavy industrial facilities.
It would be desirable to have experience of supervising and administering outsourced engineering and design functions to contractors
Ability to communicate and work effectively with various supporting functions in the organization.
Familiar with basic project engineering tools for scheduling with Primevera, etc.
It would be desirable for the candidate to have some site experience in manufacturing or construction.

SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS

Must have a hands-on and proactive approach and experience in Project Engineering
Strong communication and relation building skills; ability to successfully interact with stakeholders at all levels within a multicultural environment.
Strong interpersonal skills. Able to remain extremely professional, composed, and competent in multi-task, multi-national, rapid change environment and able to maintain confidential information.
Excellent time management, problem solving, and issue resolution skills.
Must be able to learn, understand and apply new skills and technologies.
Open minded individual, receptive to other ideas, able to persistent in the face of adversity.
