Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the Hospital Education Program.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.
Inside Cardiac Cath Lab:
Be responsible and care for all the equipment and stock items according to the standard protocols, and make sure that the lab is ready for the next patient and for any emergency case.
Keep close watching on monitors for any pressure changes or arrhythmias and immediately inform the Cardiologist.
Monitors patient during his/her recovery phase and until he/she leaves the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
Give patient post operative instructions.
Check and stock up as necessary, all the supplies, e.g. catheters, lines, etc.
Make sure all patient data is stored in the laboratory, e.g. Log Book.
Disinfect all equipment post procedure and make sure they are ready to be used again for the next patient, and make sure to dispose all disposable equipment.
Ensure patient’s notes are completed by relevant staff (including the Cardiologist) before patient leaves the laboratory.
Ensure lab is clean and ready for the next case.
Ensure all relevant documents and patient charts are completed.
Scrubs, gowns and gloves self and assists other team members with the same procedure.
Assists in the preparation for surgical procedure.
Maintain professional knowledge through educational activities.
Attached ECG and pads for patients, prepare the transducer
In Control Area:
Set up complete pressure/monitoring system
Pressure recordings from left and right heart studies
Saturation measurements
Obtain relevant printouts/ hard copies of the necessary data.
Calculate shunts, vascular pulmonary and systemic resistance, valvular gradients and area.
Calibrate and zero the system to obtain accurate readings, and make sure transducer has to be adjusted to the same level as the middle of the patient’s chest.
Be responsible or entire monitoring equipment.
Fully primed and air free lines.
Pressure bag.
Various transducers.
Manifolds
Computer, printer equipment
Enter patient identification and other relevant data into the computer and ensure it does not get lost or wiped out.
Record the baseline ECG and connect the patient for continues monitoring.
Keep close watch on any ECG abnormalities or pressure changes and IMMEDIATELY informed the Operator (Interventionist).
Make sure all patient data is documented from the time that the patient is on the table until the patient is done with the procedure including:
What time patient arrived?
When does procedure started?
Type of the procedure.
Puncture time / site.
Catheter was used.
Wire was used.
Balloon was used and pressures.
Stents was used and pressures.
Medication were given
How much contrast patient received
X-ray time.
Dose area Producted
Cumlative Air (KERMA).
Assist with the implantation of temporary and permanent pacemaker system. Set up the appropriate equipment, measure intra cardiac voltage, pulse width, threshold, and post implantation pacemaker analysis.
Assist with cardiac resuscitation.
Coordinate with other laboratory staff and liaise with relevant hospital department as necessary
