INTRODUCTION & STORY SO FAR

Tarabut Gateway (TG) is the first and largest regulated Open Banking platform in the MENA, with offices in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UAE. TG connects a regional network of banks and FinTechs via a universal application programming interface (API). By offering tools that allow the facilitation and distribution of personalized financial services, TG enables financial institutions to build a new world of financial services in MENA.

From our earliest days, we quickly became the region’s first applicant to a ‘regulatory sandbox’ through the Central Bank of Bahrain.

The clear objective is to build an infrastructure that accelerates an industry transformation. A multisided platform that connects banks, FinTechs, merchants, in the MENA region all on one platform, enabling a new realm of partnerships to be forged.

Fast forward to today, TG is in partnership with the largest banks in many countries. Our products are being built in Bahrain and will be ready to be shipped to other markets. At present we are focusing on scaling up our software engineering and product team to continue to better serve the lives of all 550 million people in the region.

This is the beginning of our journey, and as we see early stage fintech start to emerge in other jurisdictions, there is no better time than now for the TG Platform to play its part in driving this new realm of financial services in MENA.

We’ve received over $25mil in investment, including the largest FinTech seed round in MENA history and attracted global Tier 1 investors including Tiger Global and Target Global.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Risk & Compliance Manager will enable our international growth and build to the next level. It is a locally focussed role supporting our launch and expansion in Saudi Arabia. The team’s mission is to continue TG’s integrity by ensuring it stays on a lawful, compliant, and ethical path.

This role will enjoy taking ownership for planning, designing, and implementing KSA risk and compliance strategies, management processes, policies, testing, and procedures to enable effective management decisions and reporting across the business.

You will support the Group Head of Risk & Compliance on identifying, managing, and mitigating relevant risks. Additionally, you will understand how APIs and Data Aggregation works to conduct Compliance Testing, ensure compliance with KSA open banking standards and general SAMA regulations.

Furthermore, you will be a domain focused person that supports the Technology, Product and Commercial Teams in complying with regulations and measuring/managing risks. You will be result oriented, swift to support against time sensitive project and regulatory deadlines.

You will collaborate with the rest of the team on the Group wide Compliance testing and the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process. You will have the knowledge and ensure that TG complies with all legal and contracted standards, and policies align accordingly.

We need someone who is confident enforcing local regulations in all aspects and departments in TG as well as provide guidance on local compliance matters.

Collaborating with the wider Risk & Compliance team, together you will provide support, education and training relating to risk and compliance to all team members across TG. As part of this team, together you’ll own specific reporting, ensuring the clear understanding and accountability for risks.

The Risk & Compliance team will design and implement measures to control and mitigate risks including activities to avoid, reduce and transfer risks. Individually and collectively, you’ll own compliance issue resolution activities. You will continuously endeavour to review and improve procedures and systems accordingly and your first point of escalation will be the Group Head of Risk & Compliance.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

General knowledge of SAMA regulations and how to conduct interactions/communications with SAMA
Knowledge of Data Aggregation, APIs and related technologies
Experience implementing risk and compliance policies, frameworks and plans
Experience in designing and handling risk assessments, risk registers and maintaining the risk library.
Experience in compliance testing, monitoring activities and gap analyses
Experience with management reporting tools and methodologies
Experience with reviewing departmental policies and procedures
Experience rolling out trainings to new joiners and existing staff
CAMS or ICA or other compliance / risk certifications
Comfortable in a remote working business
