The Opportunity
As the Communication Specialist for the Local Health System Sustainability Project’s Jordan Activity (LHSS/Jordan) you will support the Advocacy and Communication Advisor in implementing the CPDP communication component and the Activity’s communication activities. The LHSS Project is USAID’s flagship initiative in integrated health systems strengthening, with a goal to help low- and middle- income countries transition to sustainable, self-financed health systems to support universal health coverage. LHSS/Jordan is supporting the Government of Jordan’s (GOJ) efforts to improve health care professionals’ competencies to deliver quality health services through the institutionalization of a mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) system for professional license renewal. The Activity is also working with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and private sector on strengthening the Jordanian post COVID-19 resilience activities, including strengthening the laboratory sector.
This is a full-time position based in Amman, Jordan. You will work under the supervision of the Activity’s Advocacy and Communication Advisor.
Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to USAID regulations for marking and branding compliance for all Activity materials and all needed PPTs and reports, guidelines from meetings, and other knowledge dissemination materials.
  • Support the development of advocacy information, educational materials for LHSS and all USAID/Abt communications.
  • Support MOH/HCAD in the implementation of the CPD awareness campaign.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Draft, summarize and edit succinct communication pieces of varying length (success stories and press releases);
  • Draft and/or edit publications to ensure clarity, consistency, and readability of the text for the intended audience.
  • Design and produce videos of success stories in coordination with the relevant LHSS teams.
  • Design and layout materials (e.g. reports, posters, infographics, images, presentations, etc.) using a variety of software including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Word and PowerPoint for internal and external audiences, and for presentation, print and online use;
  • Create social media posts that include content from different projects under the Activity.
  • Any other tasks relevant as assigned by the supervisor.

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s Degree + 4-6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + 2-4 years of relevant experience, or PhD + 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or any related field.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in communication.
  • Experience with USAID-funded programs is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking required.
  • Capacity to provide high quality reports in a professional and timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
