Operations and Partnerships Coordinator

Reporting to: Kuja Kuja Regional Director

Job Location: Amman and/or West Bank (Gaza)

PURPOSE

Working directly with the Kuja Kuja Regional Director, the Operations and Partnerships Coordinator is responsible and accountable for:

  1. The establishment and management of Kuja Kuja’s initial BHA-funded project in West Bank and Gaza (WB/G);
  2. Compliance with all facets of that project, including the preparation of project reports;
  3. Building and managing relations with project partners, including implementing humanitarian organizations and the funder;
  4. Participating actively in Kuja Kuja’s management structure in the region and globally.

OBJECTIVES

  1. The establishment and management of Kuja Kuja’s initial BHA-funded project in West Bank and Gaza (WB/G) (50%):
  1. Working with Kuja Kuja colleagues and project partners, establish the operational parameters through which the project will be carried out – staffing, logistics, management structure, etc.;
  2. Ensure that all regulatory and administrative requirements are met;
  3. Support our project partners in the hiring and training of data collectors;
  4. Build and manage our initial team;
  5. Carry out frequent personal oversight of project activities in the field;
  6. Ensure that data quality is high in all locations, creating strategies for distribution of insights we derive from data in partnership to local and global Kuja Kuja leaders and with client leadership teams;
  7. Create learning check-ins with project-partner teams to ensure that there is broad and continued buy in around Kuja Kuja and that expectations are managed appropriately;
  8. Work with Kuja Kuja technology and data teams to refine our data products to ensure the success of our project partners;
  9. Build and reinforce close working relationships with key staff members in our project partners, addressing difficulties and conflicts proactively.
  1. Compliance with all facets of that project, including the preparation of project reports (25%):
  1. Ensure that all requirements included in the Kuja Kuja contract with BHA are fulfilled, including project reporting;
  2. Ensure that all regulatory and administrative requirements applicable to Kuja Kuja’s operations are fulfilled;
  3. Proactively seek feedback from the funder, local authorities, and our project partners, taking action to correct and improve operations as appropriate.
  1. Building and managing relations with project partners, including implementing humanitarian organizations and the funder (20%):
  1. Together with the Regional Director, design a medium-term marketing strategy for the region, linked with the output of Objective 4 (below), for consideration by the KKMT;
  2. Consistent with that strategy, participate in gatherings related to humanitarian operations in the region, working proactively to build Kuja Kuja’s profile with participants;
  3. Consistent with that strategy, periodically meet, formally and informally, with the project funder and other potential funders;
  4. Consistent with that strategy, periodically meet, formally and informally, with project partners (humanitarian organizations) and other potential partners
  5. Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with our project partners, working to ensure that Kuja Kuja is delivering value for them across all aspects of each relationship.
  1. Participating actively in Kuja Kuja’s management structure in the region and globally (5%):
  1. Report on a regular basis, and as required by the evolution of events, to the Regional Director;
  2. Participate in the Regional Team;
  3. Participate as requested in the KKMT;
  4. At the close of the contract, outline recommendations for the future of Kuja Kuja in the region.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED & ABILITIES NEEDED

  • A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in a related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience successfully managing field teams working in development or humanitarian settings
  • Proficiency in English and Arabic (speaking, writing, and reading) is a must
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure and rapidly respond to requirements.
  • Capacity to quickly adapt to change
  • Love of innovation and design, a hunger for creating new things, and a desire to mentor, guide, and teach others as they learn to become leaders.
  • Sense of humor and an ability to roll with the changing needs of a very human technology startup.
