JOB BRIEF
Save the Children Jordan is establishing a Reggio-Emilia influenced preschool. This preschool is part of a social enterprise model, where the income generated will support women entrepreneurs in underserved communities to establish their own preschools and hire women in these areas.
The preschool operated by Save the Children Jordan is founded on warm, loving relationships between students, parents, teachers, and staff members. We provide children with educational activities appropriate for young learners, taking into account their physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs. We realize the importance of providing a nurturing, safe inspiring environment, rich with opportunities to be open and curious. We also aim to provide a supportive and inspirational working environment for all our staff members.
The English teacher will provide instruction to students at the preschool level in English in a manner that enhances their social, emotional, cognitive and physical development while adhering to the preschool’s policies as the Save the Children Jordan (SCJ) Safeguarding policy and Code of Conduct.

SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Lead teacher / Principal
Staff directly reporting to this post: N/A
|
Child Safeguarding: Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post require daily contact with children or young people. This role will require the following competencies
|
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the classroom;
- Responsible for planning and presenting structured learning activities that encourage children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development collaboratively with other faculty members and management team;
- Plans and creates group lessons, materials and art pieces surrounding monthly themes;
- Prepares lessons that reflect differentiation for individual student needs;
- Organizes activities and supervises student for whom he or she is responsible as well as other students in his or her presence;
- Implements a rotation system to promote the sharing of equipment and games between children;
- Supports housekeepers in maintaining the classroom and all teaching materials disinfected and in good condition;
- Ensures that all toys, games and equipment are accounted and stored securely at the end of the day;
- Evaluates the performance, progress, challenges and learning of students and to report on them to the management team and to parents according to the system in effect;
- Maintains up to date student records, proficient in report card writing;
- Monitors the late arrivals and absences and reports them to the management team according to the system in effect;
- Participates in outdoor activities with children for at least 2 hours per day;
- Takes part in the procurement planning meetings;
- Participates in all school events including open houses, parent meetings, and others;
- Maintains open communication with co-workers and parents;
- Participates actively and meaningfully in professional development opportunities and attend all mandatory training;
- Performs other duties as assigned by lead teacher/principal/Superintendent;
- Coordinates with responsible personnel to provide social media content;

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education or a related field;
- Valid standard First Aid and CPR;
- Up to date medical and immunization record, including Covid-19 immunization;
Professional Experience
- 2-4 years of experience as a pre-school teacher;
- Experience in effective classroom management, behavioural management;
- Experience and flexibility working with diverse communities and families;
Key Competencies
- Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of child development as well as an aptitude in different learning approaches to early childhood care and education;
- Ability to adapt to a variety of student need using a positive and proactive approach;
- Ability to maintain appropriate standards of behaviour, mutual respect, and safety within classroom;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Understanding of family dynamics and sensitive to local culture and educational issues;
- Native level English speaker or IELTS 6 or higher;
- Excellent computer skills;
- Superior organizational skills;
