JOB PURPOSE
The cook will prepare meals and follow establishment recipes. Duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to the guest house menu, and following food health and safety procedures. Work may include operating a grill, oven, fryer and other kitchen equipment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- Setting up, cleaning, and organizing work in kitchen
- Preparing ingredients for the daily menu as per pre-decided menu; washing vegetables, chopping, seasoning meat, etc.
- Preparing oven, utensils, and grill on daily basis
- Maintain the hygiene standards for kitchen and him/herself.
- Cooking meals according to food health and safety standards
- Recommending ideas for specials or seasonal dishes
- Manage other employees in the kitchen
- Devises new recipes
- Dressing order for presentation
- Estimates expected food consumption and organizes preparation
- Respect the meals timing and make the meals ready on time
- Storing all food properly
- Sanitizing and cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils
- Reordering stock and food supplies
- Monitoring other cooks and team members
- Assisting other cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed.
- Cook special meals for staff with special needs.
- Perform any additional tasks might be advised by the supervisor.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Completion of secondary school education.
Experience:
Two or more years of related experience in site maintenance and basic record keeping.
