Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan. Working in coordination with the humanitarian community and the Government of Jordan, the IRC's assistance programs for children in Jordan include both camp-based (Zaatari, and Azraq camps) and urban-based refugee assistance (Mafraq, Ramtha, Irbid).
Job Overview/Summary
The Finance Officer performs the day-to-day finance operations. works with the Finance Manager in the maintenance and oversight of the accounting operations to ensure that all finance operations in Amman office are performed in accordance with IRC and country office policy and procedures. The position is based in Amman,Jordan
Key responsibilities:
Specific Responsibilities:
1) SUN System / General Ledger Processing
- Payments review and process in Bank online website
- Data entry in the accounting software for monthly expenses/ payments and balance sheet accounts.
- Preparation of the monthly payroll journal voucher to be entered in the accounting software.
- supervising and managing the country financial monthly closing process
- Generate accounting and financial report from SUN System needed for the monthly closing.
- Prepare monthly management reports to the Finance Manager and Program staff as required, including expenditures by cost center/project and other financial information, in a timely and accurate manner.
2) The Monthly Balance Sheet accounts reconciliation
- Responsible for the preparation of the country office monthly Balance Sheet accounts reconciliation to be reviewed by the Finance Manager and Head of Office
- Responsible to follow-up with other operational departments (HR, Supply Chain, Grants Unit) regarding staff, vendor advances and other balance sheet items before month end.
3) Financial Management and Donor Reporting
- Liaise with other Finance Staff to ensure timely record of expenses for Donor Interim and/or Final Financial Report’s.
- Assist with support documents for Donor Reports scanning and filling.
4) Data Entry / Accounting Records
- Review expenditure spreadsheet
- Maintain subsidiary ledgers for advances, receivables, and payables
- Verify completeness and accuracy of all accounting documents.
- Execute a weekly back-up of all financial ledgers on every last business day of the week Payroll and Taxes
- Review the national staff payroll that is prepared by HR, for calculation accuracy and completeness.
- Record the national payroll; ensure standard financial controls are maintained and that all payments are accurate and legitimate Bank Operations
- Process cash withdrawals from the bank and ensure timely bank payments
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation schedules.

Position directly Supervises: N/A
Key Internal Contacts: The Budget & Reporting Manager, Deputy Director of Finance, Grants Department, as well other Finance, Program and support unit staff.
Key External Contacts: External to the Country Office: The Regional Finance Director, Global Finance Director, UK Office, Germany Office, IRC’s Program Field Coordinators and Program & Finance staff in other IRC offices handled through IRC Jordan office.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or finance is required. An advanced degree is preferred
- Minimum of three years’ experience from an international NGO
- Strong accounting skills and experience, including management of general ledger, journal entries, payroll, payables, and balance sheet.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel
- Prior staff supervisory experience and strong organizational skills are desired
- Excellent oral and written English skills.
- Previous knowledge of SUN system will be an advantage
