BACKGROUND
The Jordan Economic Reform Activity Task Order 1 (ERA TO1) is a 5-year, $54 million program funded by USAID, which aims to support the Government of Jordan (GOJ) to prioritize and implement economic reforms. Through coordination with the GOJ, the Jordanian and international private sector, other donors, and Jordanian civil society, ERA TO 1 will (1) advance economic reforms, (2) strengthen the business enabling environment, (3) increase exports and local, regional, and international investments, and (4) respond to emerging priorities.
Position Description
The English Content Writer supports ERA’s work with the Ministry of Investment by developing and curating English content for the ministry’s upcoming website, Invest.jo and writing content for an online campaign to create awareness of the new investment law. S/He will gather information and materials made available through ERA and MoIN, and curate content for the website in close coordination with the implementing team, as well as rewriting and writing content for website pages as needed. Moreover, s/he is responsible for selecting content to be presented in graphic formats, preparing it for design, and working closely with the assigned graphic designers to produce the needed graphics. For the awareness campaign, s/he will develop the English content in coordination with the team.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
- Review existing investment content and identify gaps in information and material.
- Plan content for the website based on the final site map.
- Select content from available material and prepare for upload to the site.
- Write content that is not available.
- Identify content to be presented in graphic format, prepare written elements for design, and provide input and guidance to the assigned designer to produce the needed graphics.
- Carefully proofread all English content prior to upload to ensure it is clear, grammatically correct, and error-free.
- Support the MoIN team members to upload the English content to the website.
- Review all English content online once uploaded to the website, identify errors, and fix as needed.
- Write the English content for an online awareness campaign about the new investment law.
- Curate, edit, and write English content for other investment promotion materials as needed.
- Provide other related content writing, editing, proofreading, and curation services as needed.
- Conduct high-quality research and interviews (if needed).
Reporting
This Short-Term assignment will take place in Amman, Jordan. The English Content Writer will report to the Investment Team Leader or their designee.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as English, communications, marketing, business, new media or public relations
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in communications, copywriting and/or digital marketing
- Experience in writing, editing and proofreading content for websites and social media platforms preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with culturally diverse staff
- Strong English and Arabic communication skills (oral and written)
LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT
The English content writer shall be based in the project’s office in Amman, Jordan.
