BACKGROUND
The Jordan Economic Reform Activity Task Order 1 (ERA TO1) is a 5-year, $54 million program funded by USAID, which aims to support the Government of Jordan (GOJ) to prioritize and implement economic reforms. Through coordination with the GOJ, the Jordanian and international private sector, other donors, and Jordanian civil society, ERA TO 1 will (1) advance economic reforms, (2) strengthen the business enabling environment, (3) increase exports and local, regional, and international investments, and (4) respond to emerging priorities.
Position Description
The Arabic Content Writer supports ERA’s work with the Ministry of Investment by developing Arabic content for a public awareness campaign about the new investment law and the ministry’s investment promotion website. They are tasked with writing the Arabic content for the campaign based on English content to be provided. The campaign will include video and design graphics. Moreover, s/he is responsible for creating content on all social media for USAID to post on their platforms, ensure regular communications and successful partnerships to a broad audience.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
- Review English material provided for investment campaign to understand key messages.
- Based on the English version, write the Arabic script for an awareness video to be developed (may involve narration).
- Based on material provided, write the messages in Arabic for an online awareness campaign about the new investment law.
- Help identify content to be presented in graphic format and prepare written elements in Arabic for design and provide input to the assigned designer if needed.
- Carefully proofread all Arabic content prior to upload to ensure it is clear, grammatically correct, and error-free.
- Support the MoIN team members to upload the Arabic content to the website.
- Review all Arabic content online once uploaded to the website, identify errors, and fix as needed.
- Based on the English content provided, write the Arabic content for other MoIN investment promotion materials as needed.
- Provide other related content writing, editing, proofreading, and curation services as needed.
- Curate, edit, and write Arabic content for other investment promotion materials as needed.
- Conduct high-quality research and interviews (if needed).
Reporting
This Short-Term assignment will take place in Amman, Jordan. The Arabic content writer will report to the investment team leader or their designee.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as communications, marketing, business, new media or public relations
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in communications, copywriting and/or digital marketing
- Experience in writing content for websites and social media platforms preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with culturally diverse staff
- Strong Arabic and English communication skills (oral and written)
LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT
The Arabic content writer will be based in the project’s office in Amman, Jordan.
