DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Readies operating room for operative procedure.
Assists with placement of patients on operating table and ensures availability of necessary attachments.
May assists with draping of patients and preparation of surgical area
May scrub and assist surgeon by handling instruments and similar items during surgical procedure.
Adjust surgical lights and other equipment as directed.
Assists members of the surgical team in moving patients from operating table to stretcher and from operating rooms to recovery rooms or other patient areas.
Cleans operating rooms following surgical procedures, including disposal of used surgical linen, gloves, instruments, utensils, equipment and waste.
May perform sponge, needle and instruments counts during operative procedures.
May ready surgical specimens for transmission to the Pathologist.
May record selected data on patient records.
Performs such other job-related duties not specifically enumerated in this job description which may, from time to time be assigned by superiors.
May be required to accept temporary duty assignment to other sites.
Interpreters, as necessary, if bilingual.
Is required to work the standards hours imposed by the company.
Participates in the Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skill and abilities research projects.
