This is a Temporary Duty of Assignment open to internal CARE Associates:
CARE Jordan’s programming to date has focused on protection and community engagement with a focus on case management, referrals, psychosocial support services (PSS) and meeting basic needs. CARE Jordan is currently at a juncture of contextualizing the global 2030 vision, and the CARE USA 2025 Strategy to the context of Jordan and in the form of a Country and Program strategy for CARE Jordan. Therefore, we are seeking an experienced Protection and Gender in Emergencies Advisor to support the Country office to strategize and align our Protection and Community Engagement program with the CARE GiE Pillars and advance our efforts to meet the needs of people of all genders, ages, and abilities through the application of gender equality and gender transformative approaches.
Under the supervision of the Country Director, and in close cooperation with the Assistant Country Director, Program Quality and Impact, the Protection and GiE Advisor will focus on advancing the four key pillars under CARE’s GiE work across CARE Jordan’s programs (urban and camp settings), including minimum commitments for technical sectors (such as Gender and Protection mainstreaming), Life free from violence (focusing on response to GBV in emergencies), Women Lead in Emergencies, and supporting the implementation of regular gender analyses.
Responsibilities
- Strategy Support 'Program Audit & Strategy Groundwork' (30%)
- Technical Quality/ Implementation (25%)
- Technical Quality/ Alignment of CARE Jordan's protection portfolio to the GiE pillars (25%)
- Technical Quality/ Alignment of CARE Jordan's protection portfolio to the GiE pillars
- Managerial (20%)
Qualifications
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, International Relations, Conflict transformation, Development studies, or related discipline.
- Has experience with external representation and proposal development (3 years minimum)
- Program management, staff management as well as GiE technical background
- Commitment to CARE Core values and principles.
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Strong networking capabilityAbility to organize and facilitate training sessions
- Fluency in English (verbal & written) is essential and Arabic desirable
- Six plus years of experience in not-for-profit organization with experience in refugee and protracted crisis
- Extensive experience in mainstreaming gender, use of gender analysis tools and other approaches.
- GBV/Cash and protection experience in CARE (6 years preferably)
- Experience developing and implementing strategies and ToC
