1. Work on Tasks per JTS Book
2. Works assignments are typically supplemented with blueprints and instructions for the machine or machines and attachments to be used, sequence of operations on each machine, and critical dimensions or unusual aspects of the job.
3. Obtaining the prescribed fixtures, tools, and materials, sets up the settings onto the machine; while determining the proper machine speed and feed based on the type of material to be machined. Sets the desired tolerances and maintain dimensions and tolerances to meet the job specifications.
4. They may assist or instruct lower grade workers in setting up machines and obtaining materials, and follow through to assure satisfactory completion of the job.
5. Ensure that machined parts to be used must meet dimensional requirements to finish the job.
6. Installs, repairs, constructs, develops, and calibrates a variety of machine tools, dies, jigs, gauges, instruments, gears, and fixtures.
7. Performs more difficult machine operations on replacement parts and makes parts and assembles new equipment as sketched by others. This is done through the using precision instruments.
8. Exercises judgment to diagnose trouble by tearing down what is needed, determine the necessary repair action, and reassemble the Machines again.
9. Machine tool operators operate one or more conventional or computer numerical control (CNC) machines of the type operated by grade 8 operators to perform assigned machining operations that may require the use of various machine tool attachments.
10. Read and interpret specialized drawings, sketches, diagrams, shop mathematics, charts, tables, and handbook formulas in precious manner.
11. Performs any other related duties as instructed from his direct supervisor.
