Oracle Database Administrator

Accountabilities & Key Roles :

  • Ensure IT Services continuity and efficient support to all units globally in Plc.
  • Contribute in the development of IT projects.
  • Adopt technical and security controls.
  • Monitor and tuning Database performance.
  • Database upgrades and patching.
  • Ensure abidance with database administration standards to ensure most efficient and reliable environmental aspects of operating systems and databases including recoverability, integrity, security, availability, performance, Database upgrades and maintenance.
  • Contribute to the implementation of projects and initiatives related to IT database administration in line with the industry best practices and Risk and Regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and update database technical controls for related IT systems and ensure adequate implementation.
  • Provide first / second line of technical support and expertise to different group entities for all Oracle, DB2 and Sybase databases and dependent solutions where applicable and needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all DBs related problems in a timely manner.
  • Manage in database Capacity planning.
  • Participate in the development of IT PnPs.
  • Adherence and compliance to all IT PnPs and work actively to close all related audit findings.
  • Development of standard scripts per database to automate daily/periodic administration or diagnostics procedures.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to ensure DBs are always working in healthy conditions.
  • Responsible for database reporting tools and using standard management systems and compliance systems to proactively identify database administration gaps and issues.

  • Manage database implementation with external third parties and IT.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering from a recognized University.

Experience:

  • Up to 4 years of experience in a related job function.
  • Strong working knowledge Oracle , DB2 and / or Sybase is essential.
  • Strong Database Administration fundamentals, data security, backup solutions, recovery tools, upgrade and migration processes.
  • Strong Knowledge in standards for database administration.
  • Strong Knowledge of storage subsystems including SAN, ..
  • Strong knowledge in data replication.
  • Good knowledge of VERIAS backup solution.
  • Has extensive DBA experience and knowledge with ability to make sound judgment and lead others to perform in the following areas : Backup and Recovery, Capacity Planning and Performance tuning, Ability to work in a team, Verbal & written communication, Ability to deal with high profile clients, Inquisitiveness and willingness to learn new technology.
  • Any certification in above skills is a plus.
