Position: MEL manager, CHN project- Jordan
FHI 360 is currently recruiting for the position of MEL manager for the USAID Jordan Community Health and Nutrition project. The Community Health and Nutrition project aims to improve the nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women and children under the age of two in three target governorates in Jordan. The project seeks to support child and maternal health and nutrition by improving breastfeeding practices, introducing appropriate complementary foods at the right time, and ensuring appropriate child spacing through postpartum family planning and continued adoption of modern forms of contraception. This position will be based in Amman, Jordan
Job Requirements:
Under supervision of the Senior MEL Specialist, the following monitoring, evaluation and research specific duties and responsibilities will be undertaken by the MEL manager:
- Assist with the design and implementation of quantitative and qualitative research studies, providing technical support and overall management to ensure coordination, field level implementation, data analysis, and reporting of findings.
- Ensure project activities are on track with workplans and utilize evidence generated to identify areas for improvement and propose appropriate technical strategy and guidelines.
- Contribute to data collection, analysis and reporting for ongoing monitoring and evaluation according to CHN’s Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Plan (MEL) and plans of implementing partners.
- Work closely with CHN’s Senior MEL Specialist, CHN program management staff and partner M&E staff including grantee staff on all aspects of data collection and analysis. This includes developing data collection tools, field monitoring of data collection, data entry, data verification checking and quality assurance, data analysis and reporting.
- Prepare ongoing monitoring reports for high level indicators across Development Objectives as well as internal project performance indicators in different formats including USAID’s Dev Results and GIS reporting.
- Develop, review, and maintain key MEL documents to ensure adequate resource and reference documentation; this include managing MEL documents internally on the project’s share point and USAID’s Knowledge Management Portal (KaMP).
- Under guidance of the Senior MEL Specialist, serve as the liaison with internal and external partners to ensure effective collaboration efforts.
Qualifications:
• BS or BA degree in statistics, public health, or other relevant social sciences field
• 3-5 years of professional experience in data monitoring and working on M&E, preferably for complex international health and development programs and evaluation activities. Experience with USAID programs is preferrable
• Proven ability to provide highly accurate and thoughtfully constructed data formulations
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate positively with a variety of project staff and stakeholders
• Flexibility, enthusiasm and initiative to take on tasks and produce results
• Demonstrated expertise in ‘excel’ is required. Proficiency with statistical software packages used for data analysis, such as SPSS, STATA is preferrable
• Strong written and oral skills in both Arabic and English languages require
