Duration: 11 months (from March 2023)
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Strategic Planning and Coordination unit of the Communication, Advocacy and Marketing (CAM) division at WFP provides support and guidance to CAM HQ units, regional bureaux, and country offices through four work streams:
- Strategy Planning includes supporting corporate processes and the development of CAM strategies and frameworks.
- Coordination of Integrated Projects incorporates the rollout initiatives led by the CAM director, such as socializing narratives.
- Capacity Development focuses on skill building through the master-classes series, WeLearn development and providing strategic advice and support to offices with missions and retreats.
- Monitoring & Evaluation provides data insights including share of voice and recall, tracks performance and supports regional and country offices on M&E tools and tracking.
ACCOUNTABITLITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
CAM Strategic Planning and advisory support
- Support all aspects leading to the development of the new CAM global strategy;
- Undertake socialization of any new strategic communications material developed by HQ across the global organization;
- In line with current strategy and based on available tools and documents, ensure most relevant and updated guidance is available on the intranet for country, regional and global comms officers;
- Support the Head of Unit in facilitating CAM strategy development processes for any country, region or global office, as required;
- Undertake any special projects or processes initiated and prioritized by the Director’s office.
Corporate Processes
- Work closely with the Head of Unit and the Director’s office to identify and coordinate key corporate planning processes;
- Liaise with CAM focal points and PA front office to collect and review inputs to yearly; submissions on behalf of CAM such as workplans, Annual Performance Plan and others;
- Ensure alignment of internal planning documents.
Coordination and Support
- Support the development of any strategic communications related to learning and development material including masterclasses, e-learning material and trainings;
- Oversee the coordination of internal events that CAM leads or participates in, including informal sessions, special meetings or retreats;
- Coordinate the production of materials for ad hoc/special projects from the Director’s Office (e.g. CAM mission support coordination, CD Reference Group meetings, etc.);
- Manage and coordinate other special projects, including communications campaigns or support to HQ divisions as required;
- Present strategies/guidelines/webinars to stakeholders as required;
- Undertake other assignments as required.

DELIVERABLES QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Clear and consistent guidance to communication officers across the organization on the division’s strategic objectives and priorities as and when they are updated.
- Stronger support and guidance on strategic communication across the division – both at HQ as well as CO/RBx and divisional level.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Studies, Communications, Public Relations or other related fields. |

Languages: |
Excellent knowledge of English (level C) is required. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is a plus. |
