BACKGROUND
The Water Governance Activity (WGA) program is a multi-year project funded by USAID, which aims to support the Government of Jordan (GoJ) to achieve measurable improvements and greater sustainability of the water sector by providing technical assistance to strengthen the GoJ’s reform, policy development and implementation, and capacity-building efforts. WGA will support the following objectives: support the GoJ to define and resolve water sector strategy and policy issues; improve water entities’ performance by reducing network losses, increasing conveyance efficiencies, and improving utility cost recovery; and specific, cross-cutting objectives related to support to gender, youth, persons with disabilities (PWD), and private sector engagement.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Driver will operate and maintain project vehicles, in addition to performing ad hoc tasks to support project logistics and operations. The Driver reports to the Senior Operations and Logistics Specialist who shall be responsible for coordinating his/her assignments and supervising his/her work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Drive project vehicles daily as assigned and/or pre-approved by supervisor, including routing shuttle service runs, scheduled field trips, project-related transportation within Amman and other cities, and other driving assignments as required.
- Clean assigned vehicles daily both inside and out.
- Check assigned vehicles weekly to ensure that they are operational and safe to drive, including oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluids, wipers, tires, lights, and signals.
- Initiate and supervise routine periodic maintenance and repairs of assigned project vehicles, including oil and filter changes, tune-ups, and professional cleaning by high-pressure hose based on the manufacturer’s instructions on optimum maintenance requirements.
- Fulfill project reporting requirements and maintain records on vehicle mileage and routing, vehicle condition, etc.
- Be capable of managing the delivery of project correspondence to official entities and utilities services and following up on it
- Ensure passenger safety by obeying traffic laws and driving carefully.
- Expedite any project request necessary to facilitate the running of the office.
- Move office furniture as needed.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of program supplies as needed.
- Act as support in project-held functions
- Any other duties, as assigned by the supervisor and his/her designees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- A valid driver’s license required.
- A good driving record and understanding of auto mechanics required.
- Minimum three years of experience. Working in a donor funded project is preferred.
- Good physical health required.
- Availability for overtime work and field travel is necessary.
- Proficient English is strongly preferred
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School certificate required.
