Overall description:
The Specialist, Tax reports to the Group Tax Manager and will mainly assist with the non-income tax and income tax UK local matters, the Group Tax reporting in the UK including dealing with the external auditors and related documentation. The Specialist, Tax will be assisting with the modelling for budgeting, forecasting and actual financials under the OECD global tax initiative (“Pillar II”) which is a Global Minimum Income Tax Calculation and Reporting effective January 1st 2024 in the UK.
Accountabilities:
The Specialist, Tax shall assist the Group Tax Manager in overseeing the UK tax compliance and tax advisory activities.
UK Tax Compliance & Reporting

- Review the corporate tax returns from a UK income tax laws perspective for further discussion before finalization with the Group Tax Manager and external advisors
- Work closely with the local finance teams to fully understand the local financial statements needed to prepare the corporate and VAT returns
- Assist with all UK tax compliance requirements including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, etc.
- Put in place the checklist of all compliance matters from a UK tax perspective
- Research tax rules to ensure correct implementation of laws and update the Group Tax Manager on changes in UK legislation
- Assist in resolving the findings/recommendations to comply with the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) requirements.
- Maintain contact with external tax advisors on ad-hoc UK-related matters.
UK Reporting

- Prepare the tax provision files, financial reports, and disclosures of the UK tax financial results in accordance with the IAS12, IAS34 and other IFRS regulations.
- Work with the Group Tax Manager with the interim and year-end tax audit and the preparation of the related requirements.
- Work with the Group Tax Manager with the preparation of the Group’s annual report including the consolidated results and disclosures.
- Analyze and update the Uncertain Tax Provisions (“UTP”) held locally and centrally under IFRIC 23.
- Work closely with external auditors responsible for the audit of the current and deferred tax financial results.
- Prepare the analysis comparing the income tax provision with the final tax returns
Global Minimum Tax

- Monitor the updates/releases of OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) and develop a thorough understanding of the Global Anti-Base Erosion Model Rules (Pillar Two).
- Support the Group Tax Manager on the implementation of international rules on Global Minimum Tax.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the UK tax rules and provide timely updates of any UK tax and financial legislative changes to the Tax Manager and Group tax team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field
Masters / Professional certificates is a plus
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum: 3 years
Preferred: 4 years
